I have seen panels surrounded my blocks ,made the panel pop. It is a beautiful piece. Show pics when you decide.

This Gorgeous Fabric Has Me Stumped!

I had a similar problem with some fabric that I just hated to cut up. Looked for a long time to find the perfect pattern. It was very easy to sew and highlights the beauty of large patterns. I know it's a Moda patten but cannot find the name right now. Let me know if interested and I'll send you info.
You could use the 1st fabric in the large piece and at least one of the others as the bands...it almost looks like ribbons. The other fabrics could be used on the back and binding. HTH

This is so beautiful...I wouldn't cut the large print at all, but use it as a backing, or the top, backed with pieced fabric.

The blocks you made up are fabulous. Sort of a four-patch kaleilodoscope. Really nice!

Well you've been brave now and have cut it up. Well done. My suggestion was to go onto the Robert Kaufman web site - there's loads of patterns there using the fabric ranges. Be warned - you may be some time there!!

I would definitely cut the large medallion and then do pieced blocks with it. How gorgeous will it be when it is quilted around the design.

I throughorly (sp) understand your problem as I have a fabric giving me concern. Not going to cut until I'm very very sure of what I want to do.

I am pretty sure that top fabric is the one I was drooling on a few months ago at the LQS. I talked myself out of buying it. I am trying to use up my stash this year. Still kicking myself for that decision. It is of course gone now. I was going to make either a stack and whack or a one block wonder out of it. WOuld love to see the finished project.

Your idea is the same as mine - so it is a good one. That is wonderful fabric and will make a beautiful quilt. Christmas is only 6 months and 3 days away.

Hi Moonrise,
I bought this pattern some time ago to use with a fabric that I didn't want to cut up into small pieces. You might like it too. It was perfect for what I bought it for. I didn't use the top and bottom borders. But, it sure might work for you too. Let me know, I will share with you.

Just thinking here ... you could cut the fabric into rows and spread them out to make it look as though they went all the way across the quilt and then use the other fabrics for the zig zag design.

They are all gorgeous! Let us see the finished top.

Sidelights

Mountainpeek Creations has a pattern called Sidelights...which features a panel...but you could substitute your medallion print...and then use the others in the "boxes" that go along side the panel...I's used it both for panels and a feature fabric that I couldn't bear to cut up!

Beautiful fabric..would be hard to cut it up....

debbiemarie 06-23-2013 03:30 PM

I feel like you do, "I got nothing", please do show it when you figure it out and finish it.

sewellie 06-23-2013 07:27 PM

I would enhance it with beads etc. and use it as a wall hanging. That way you wouldn't have to cut it up at all. You probably have to cut it to make it fit a frame or the size of the wall space you have. Just saying .....
