My hubby gave me the okay to purchase a frame for hand quilting and I'm wondering about the Grace EZ3. I usually hand quilt in my lap, but that is for baby quilts. I like the idea of no basting and having it set up and ready for me. Does anyone use this frame? Is it a good one?

I still hand quilt in my lap. I'd love something else too, but where to put it & no room!

I have this frame and like it. It does take up some space but if you have the room for it, it is a good frame. I made cloth leaders for it and because it comes unfinished pine I painted mine, but that was only my preference, certainly not required. I have done small quilts on it so far but have a queen size top that I hope to hand quilt so it will be what I put on the frame next, but lately I just haven't been home enough to get it started.

I don't have a Grace frame, but I know they make a quality product. I know someone who bought one, and she really liked it.

Quilt on a frame is different from hoop quilting - the stitch is the same, but you can't rotate the frame like you can a hoop. So it does take some getting used to.

That said, I love quilting on my quilt frame. It keeps everything up off my lap so I can quilt in the summer, and I don't have to crawl on the floor to baste. I feel I do a better job when I use the frame.

I have the Grace EZ4 and really like it. I think the difference between the 3 and the 4 is the number of bars. Mine has 4 bars on it. The extra bar is for the batting to roll onto. It is a breeze to use. So easy to load and once loaded it is great for quilting. It does take up some space but the ease of use makes up for the space. I bought the leader cloths that went with the frame, but it sure wouldn't be necessary, you could easily make your own.

I have a Grace Frame for sale and it rotates, just like a lap frame. It adjusts easily. Picture is attached. Let me know if you are interested.
