Hey all, I am in the final stages of putting together my frame and am curious about the sure stitch regulator that can be purchased separately - anyone use this and can offer their opinion on whether or not it is worth the $500?

What about the speed control? That is much cheaper than the stitch regulator and I'm assuming that it means you don't have to "walk" the pedal down the frame as you move across the quilt :-) .

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I bought the GMQ PRO frame when I bought the Bailey Home quilter, The speed control came with the combo.

I don't have any desire for the stitch control. I am not making the kinds of quilts that will be entered in shows and judged. My quilts are donated to a charity that delivers aid to disaster areas around the world. I am sure the people who get my quilts are not going to be inspecting them for even or uniform stitches. The money I would have spent for this item, is well spent on batting. I have lots of fabrics and scraps given to me and I use sheets for backing, so my job is simple.

For those who make quilts for their families to keep as future heirlooms, I think this would be a nice feature to own.

I hope others will share their experiences with you in this area.

If you join the homequiltingsystems group at http://groups.yahoo.com you can search old posts for comments on this. There likely have been some posted. If not, you can post; someone on that list is sure to have experience with it.

I've had both a Grace set-up and an HQ16, and I HAVE TO HAVE the stitch regulator or I'd be so frustrated I'd quit altogether. I like the machine slowing down when I do, and speeding up when I do, and the stitches being relatively even, which is the whole point of it for me. I guess I could become good enough with enough practice, but I don't produce enough tops to get enough practice. So yes, for me it's worth every penny I put into it. I so admire people who can do beautiful quilting without it, but I sure can't!

thank you!! I plan on doing quite a few quilts but like you, I get frustrated when my stitches are uneven. It's just a huge hunk of money!

Count me as one more who thinks the stitch regulator is worth the money. I started out with the speed control when I got my Grace frame, but it didn't take long for me to re-think and order the stitch regulator. Too frustrating without it. Good luck with your decision.
