Grandmothers flower garden almost finished

I have been working on hand piecing this quilt for just over a year and now only have the edges to finish.

Now comes the big decision... do I hand quilt it or machine quilt.

If I hand quilt it will likely take a few years, I don't know that I will be happy with just sewing 1/4 inch around all the hexagons .

I am leaning towards machine quilting but am not sure of the design to use. I am looking forward to having this on my bed but do not want to rush the ending as I have spent so much time on this.

How would you suggest I quilt this?

Thanks

Your quilt is fantastic! I did one and did the hand quilting and it was slow going at first, but with each flower it got faster and easier. (But then I don't machine quilt very well.)

That is beautiful! I would hand quilt it but that's just me. I'm sure it will look amazing no matter how you decide to finish it. Good luck.:)

Beautiful colors! I would suggest giving the petals veins, and the flower centers pistels and stamens...there are a lot of flowers with 6 petals (though usually then they're actually tepals). If you google flowers with 6 tepals you'll get quite a few and might get lots of ideas for different centers and venation patterns. Might even give you some ideas for some leaves and or vines for between the flowers. One that I found and particularly liked was Clematis marmoraria (its number of tepals varies from between 4 and 8)...it's beautiful! Hope I've helped give you some possible quilting ideas! Whatever you decide, your quilt will be beautiful!
