ooh thanks so much mamatobugboo!!! I think we are about on our way to get started on this little darling. I have lots of old file folders that will be GREAT to use for this. I will definetely be going the English Paper Piece route me thinks....
I will read over those links a bit more and then decide my fabrics and how I will need.

By hand? You are brave! Here's one method you might want to look at

That is the way I plan to make mine. I made pin cushions using that method years ago and they turned out great.. My first one lasted close to 10 years or more. I only made a new one a couple years ago to replace it. They are great when you have such long quilting pins and I made a big one to hold lots of those pins!

I made a queen size GFG using pre cut hexagon shapes I purchased. Do not have the addy where I got them but it was a lot easier than cutting them myself. And you can reuse them over and over, It is a wonderful project to take along to Dr appt. , kids sports games etc. Very easy to do by hand but also very time consuming. then I hand quilted it. Only took me5-6 yrs. ACK!!!!

If you go to this site and find graph papers, you can print off hexagons by the sheet in pdf..choose your size and print or save to file....
