I messaged w/Grandpa about the BOTM and maybe together we can all (whomever is interested) post our BOTM using these patterns to help motivate myself and Grandpa...and even NWM50 with these blocks getting done. I hope that is ok with everyone. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or anything. Just want to share the blocks and get some motivation even for myself going.

So here we go. Jan. Block (start on them now or in Jan. -post when you are done.)

As you can tell you will need some white/cream color fabric. It can match the sashing or not. I have it matching and really like it, but someone else may not. Hope having a finished block helps. :-)

I love it! Very clever fussy cutting the center flower :D:D:D

AngieS 11-18-2010 02:01 PM

Thanks, when I did that I didn't even know what fussy cutting was!! Just knew that I wanted that fower to be in the middle!

Thanks so much Angie! This is such a great idea!

I will start on this asap! I just got blessed with some scraps (that's a 'good' thing) from dear, dear board member. I am so excited.

This BOTM is especially good for new quilters like me :D .

I hope it works well for everyone. I am going to have to try and find time to do some more of these!! :-)

SulaBug 11-19-2010 12:02 AM

I read your e-mail and when I got to the bottom to look at the pattern all I saw was this "***Copyright Protected Images Deleted***"

Do I need to do something else to see a picture of the pattern?

Well, that stinks. I didn't think of that. I'll have to look and see if I can find somewhere that has this block and just post the link to it. Whoops. I didn't mean to do something I shouldn't.

AngieS 11-19-2010 08:18 AM

I had permission from our LQS lady that said she designed this to share and make copies of this block. We do a Quilt Circle at church and we are going to be using these, I ask her for her permission before making any copies at all. So, maybe someone else designed it first I don't know.

I am looking for the pattern on line to see what I can come up with. I do know that Chain Link online is not this block that is for sure. I'll keep looking and just post the link for others to find.

What if I did a tutorial on it? I wonder if that would be ok. ?

zzzGP 11-19-2010 10:20 AM

Oh, my....I understand but it makes it hard on us new quilters on a limited income. But we'll "make do" as the saying goes... thanks SO much for what you are doing... :-) GrandPa

AngieS 11-19-2010 02:32 PM

OK, Here we go. I found such a great site. This can be what we use as Grandpa's BOTM. If you are going to make the blocks and not sure them then you can even send them to them and they will put them to such good use. Please check this out.

So, you can do them one at a time or work ahead! So, lets get started. Some great blocks are on here and they are for Jan-Dec.

Sew, get sewing!!

linmid 11-19-2010 02:42 PM

Angie,
You didn't do anything wrong. I just got back on and now it is my time to say "Whoops", because the picture of your block is there. All I need now are the measurements.

zzzGP 11-19-2010 06:48 PM

Yes, Angie! This is very good! They have some great patterns, and great causes... Let's do it! Blessings, GrandPa

I'll send you a message with them. :-)

Grandma Phyl 11-20-2010 02:11 PM

Angie could you pm the measurements? Thanks.
Would like to do this but wont be able to start until after Christmas as I have two large quilts to quilt and one still has to be pieced.

GloBug 11-22-2010 10:26 PM

Angie is this a 12" block before sashing or after?
I'm sure this is going to be fun.
Thank You.

AngieS 11-23-2010 08:55 AM

The one that I have pictured is 12 1/2 X 12 1/2 but the sashing helps in case someone is still new with getting their seam allowance right and it is off.

I'm sending you a pm. ;-)

GloBug 11-23-2010 09:12 AM

Thanks Angie that is a great help.

AngieS 11-23-2010 10:38 AM

You are very welcome! :-) Did you get my PM?

linmid 11-23-2010 10:48 AM

What is PM?

Momof3Es 11-23-2010 10:49 AM

I'm kinda new to this board so I don't want to intrude. Can I do this too? If it's closed it's ok, not offended. If not I need to understand better. We are making these blocks for ourselves? not sending them to anyone unless we don't use them, then send them to ppl that will use them?

zzzGP 11-23-2010 11:21 AM

Open for all...the more the merrier... Have fun quilting!
GrandPa

AngieS 11-23-2010 11:33 AM

A PM is a private message. It shows you at the top of the page. I will be bright yellow. :-)

AngieS 11-23-2010 11:36 AM

Mom of 3,

I had posted the first block and the directions and they were deleted so........I thought well what if we tried doing the blocks that are listed on this site
http://www.mspquiltingangels.org/bom/ They are already listed Jan-Dec so you can work at your own pace. Post when you get your Jan. block done etc. This way you can start now or wait till Jan and do the block. All of the directions are posted on there and it's a great site because if you are not going to use your blocks you can send them there. They will make quilts using your blocks!! :-)

AngieS 11-23-2010 12:07 PM

My Only concern with using these bom's is that it says 2009-2010 SO-----if it changes then we'll see new blocks. You may want to save the blocks to your computer if you really want to do these blocks though. :-) That is what I am doing. Never hurts to have the extra ideas for later if they do change them out for 2011.

AngieS 12-01-2010 06:51 AM

Wasn't sure if anyone had been to the site to see the blocks and if anyone had started them or not. I have a few things I need to finish up then I hope to get started on these. :)

Have you?
