No, this one is NOT a commercial quilt. By sheer coincidence, we were out in Labelle today, and went into the Goodwill out there. THey had a rack of "quilts", and there on the end, was one shaped like this, with hideous red flowers, all the same flower. The material was thin, not even a third the weight of mine. It had a tag on it, Better Homes and Gardens, made in China.

NOT THE SAME QUILT. I could have bought all the floss left over from doing this quilt, but since anything I would have done would only spoil her work, I passed. This quilt is heavy, and I am sure will be quite comfy too.

Oh, and looking at that quilt? They sewed thru the red flowers with white thread. Great job, lol. Mine is also nicely quilted. I used that rack of 'quilts' to educate my dh about the difference, too. He got it as soon as he touched them.

I was really lucky at that estate sale. Not only did I get this fabulous quilt, but she had a dog stroller big enough for all four of my doxies. I have been looking FOREVER for one like that, and even the small ones are so expensive. I was afraid to go look at the price, because I know how much they run....but went out on the lanai, and nearly fell over....$40. You bet I grabbed it, lol.

I looked it up, and at the cheapest place I found it, it would have cost her $200 for the trailer (it is the kind that goes behind a bike) and another $60 - $70 for the stroller kit. It is in mint condition, holds up to 110 pounds, and has loads of room for my four girls.

I also bought three cute pins for $1 for the three of them, found out they are serious collector items. Lol, still smilling. I bought the cat one for a friend, and the fish to stick on a tote. I did SOOOO GOOD.

My quilt is not for doggy paws. I think I may be hanging it. I wish I could do that kind of beautiful embroidery. My dil is already coveting it, lol.

Does this have a name? My dil is interested in one. More power to her. I am not sure what size it is, It covered about the same about of the couch when I spread it out as my queen sized one that was laying on it.

What a beautiful quilt, and all that embroidery, a lot of love and work went into that quilt. Congrats on your find.

I have a friend in R.I. who says she is going to start calling my home THe House Of Quilts, lol. I have always wanted a house full of them, and always felt gypped that when my gmother died, my aunts ran in and literally snatched them off our beds...we lived with my grandparents. The tied one I found is a lot like the one she had on my bed, and I just love it.

My cousin, and some of the board members here, mention that a quilt is only considered as old as the newest piece of fabric put on it. Well, there was one square on that one, the tied quilt, that needed repaired, but the fabric was just shredded. I appliqued a heart on it with material from my stash. If people think I ruined it's value and vintage doing that, who cares. I feel that I took the love and care in the old quilt and gave it my own heart.

I have been lucky finding these old lovingly made quilts that people are getting rid of, and maybe more so because Florida does have a lot of old people. Maybe it is just time for the love to flow my way.
