Have heard not to hand turn the wheel on the new machines but never heard why not. does anyone know why we are not supposed to?

When you use thie technique what position is your thread carrier in. Top, Middle or bottom? I have my machine to stop in needle down position and then I use the cutter on the machine so my needle is then at the highest position
