I have started designing my first quilt. I have spent the last month embroidering my niece's monogram on a sheet (which has been frustrating, to say the least!) on my lunch hour and "waiting" times. I thought it would take a week, I can't believe I started it a month ago!

I finally finished the embroidery last night. I admired it for a few minutes, then said, "I have to see it on a bed!" and spread it out on my son's bed.

....

It's sideways.

....

I was planning on it being a nice, clean, crisp whole cloth sort of thing, but now I have to whack off the top and bottom and sew them back on.

Very nice and very "high-end" looking!!

Well at least you found it before it was gifted! Nice job, tho.

Thank you! :) She's one of those "Barbies in a Raggedy Ann World" kind of girls. I didn't know what to make for her, so it's good to hear that!

Good point! It would have ended up being the world's widest wall-hanging!

How about a nice border around the embroidery instead of sewing a top and bottom on it. Make everyone think that is the way you planned it. Beautiful job on the embroidery.

But now it will be appliquéd on another piece and can be even more unique maybe border it in something rich looking that piCks up the thread color. Depending on what you choose could have a very traditional or modern look. Have fun with it--not a mistake just a path to a new design element!

This sounds like a great idea.

Thank you.
Could I cut the center out and turn it 45 degrees? Then I could put a border around it to hide the seams... hmmmm... Thanks for the idea.

That is one of the prettiest monograms I have seen! You will figure out how to us it, just take your time, take some measurements, use some graph paper and get your new design clear in your mind before you do any cutting.
