I'm working on my second quilting project.........placemats for a Christmas gift. They are all cut out and I think the measurements are fine but the seams aren't matching up!!

Soooooooooo I measured my seam allowances........hmmm a tad over 1/4. One more lesson learned. Rip,rip, rip.

Happens to everyone. You could put a piece of tape on your machine indicating a 1/4" or buy a 1/4" foot or mark the fabric. Marking would be my least favorite choice. lol

Been there done that! For me it was only discovered after I had cut my strip sets!

LOL I have a 1/4 foot! I think the mark is just before the edge of the foot and I've been putting my fabric right on the edge of it. Dohhhhhhhhhhhh

I've been there too. I did a top just this year and after doing pretty much all the blocks, found my stitch was off. I fudged it.

I have tried tape on my machine and it's okay, but since I got a seam guide attachment I have much more consistent seam width. It helps hold the edge of the fabric where you want it. It is a metal piece that attaches to the throat plate and can be adjusted for whatever seam width you want. Just hold the fabric against the edge as you sew and it does the rest.
