I don't use thimbles. I use what I know as "finger tape" its a mesh type roll. I know it comes in green or white as those are the only colors I have ever used. I used to use it when I worked in an electronics manufacturing company. It is used to protect your fingers when doing repetitive moves to help prevent blisters on your fingers. Just wrap it a couple of times and squeeze it onto your fingers. I've used it for years. Here is their website if you want to check it out.

GUARD-TEX® Self-Adhering Safety Tape is the wrap-around tape that . . .

Guards hands, fingers, & wrists: Protects skin against rough, sharp, or hot surfaces. Prevents small cuts, abrasions, and minor burns. Eliminates sore and tender fingers.

Sticks only to itself - not to skin, hair, clothing, or tools. Always easy to apply and painless to remove. Leaves no gummy residue.

I noticed that they don't have the prices listed so I suppose you need to call them. Its worth checking out. And you never need to keep track of your thimble. Just go around your finger a time or two tear off and squeeze it on the finger.

Edited to add: I also use it on my fingers when I am going to be cutting out alot of fabric. Helps prevent sore spots from rubbing on the scissors.

That sounds really useful, i'll have to check that out. I don't do a lot of hand sewing or qhand quilting, but it would be great for my needlework and hand embroidery. My fingers are always killing me and I don't function well with a traditional thimble. It never fits and gets all nasty and sweaty and pops off. This sounds like the perfect solution to me! Thanks for the tip!

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

No kidding. I do not know how much it costs, but I will tell you that whatever it is it is well worth the price. The roll that I have right now is a green one and is 1 inch wide. And my daughter actually gave this roll to me about a year or so ago. One roll lasts a long long time.

Is this the same kind of stuff they put around your arm when you give blood? Can't tell from looking. Would really like to try this. I use super glue on my finger tips (and yes I let them dry really well) when I hand quilt.

No this is different then that stuff. This is a mesh. I will see if I can get a piece of it and post it so you all can see what it is for sure.

Just mold it around your finger as thick as you want

See its a mesh but its not stiff
