I must say Saturday when I went into FHT, I seen more women in their shopping than men I think. One lady had an arm full of things, I didn't stop and chat, my dh was waiting on me!

ust be the quilters in Northern New york haven't heard about the blades I went in yesterday to pick up somemore and they had about forty packages I picked up 10 packs also got legs for the new table husband is making for me

Short note here. I have been waiting now for two weeks for 14 packages of rotary blades. They were holding two for me and somebody got them. So the manager is ordering a whole bunch more (hopefully). She says women are coming in ordering blades. They have been out for two weeks. And, the price is now $1.99 and I did ask the manager that since I ordered them at $1.49 I would expect that I would get that price. She said yes. Good!

Also, I got the cutest thing! It is a magnetic collapsible wand. It compacts to 5" and could pass for a pen! It w ill be fantastic for when I drop those pins.

One more thing - I just discovered at the age of almost 72 that I may be getting old. I was doing a crossword puzzle and 21 across was ----Pitt of the movies. So I wrote down Zasu. Imagine that! It was Brad!!!! Brad who???? Edie

Edie, You will love that little magnet!!! They are really strong, or at least mine are. I got mine at Auto Pro a few years ago for about $3.00 each. I keep one in with my scissors, another in my little zippered hand quilting bag, and one in my regular hand sewing/mending bag. I try to keep one to use near my sewing machine, but only when I'm using my machine as my machine is computerized and I don't want to take chances of the magnet harming my machine in any way. The magnets are great to use when you drop your scissors, seam ripper, or pins or, Heaven forbid, needles!!! And the grandkids love picking up safety pins with my little magnets!!!

I too have 10 pks on back order at my local HF and the manager said that he would sell them to me at the sale price of $1.49. He also handed me a 20% off coupon. Great guy.
But for those of you who do not have a HF near you I found that you can get 10 blades for $14.90. That is $1.49. Good deal at Jhittlesewing.com. You will have to pay S&H but still a good deal.

A while back someone was talking about the use of magnets near their electronic sewing machines. I emailed Brother, Inc. about magnets near the machines and this is the reply:


"Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

You can use a magnet in the sewing area only. A magnetic should never be placed near the main board or the LCD screen. A strong magnet should never be used.

We hope this information will be useful to you. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know."

Thank you for the information. We all need to know this. The little magnets are just so handy to have around.
Another thing I have by machine is a little seam ripper. I have the one with the clear top. I taped the top upside down on the side of my machine and the ripper just slips down in the top and is easy to get out to use.

Just reading back here a little bit and thought I would throw this in - "Heaven forbid, needles." Years ago, I dropped a needle, forgot about it. I am a champion of champions when it comes to walking around barefoot and being that I had forgotten about it, I was kneeling down and the needle went point in into my big toe. I had to crawl to the kitchen, get a pliers, and pull that needle out of my bone in my big toe. Came -- that close to passing out, but I did it, poured merthiolate over it (you can see how long ago it was) and just sat there on the kitchen floor. I lived, but with a humungous respect for needles and pins. I am total anal about pins/needles on the floor and before I do anything, if I drop a needle or pin, I have to account for it. Even vacuuming up the area will not do it - i have to see that pin/needle. So this little magnetic wand is fantastic. Besides that, Bess loves to lay down where I sew and I sure wouldn't want her to step on a pin/needle or get one stuck in her side or stomach or something. This all took place around oh, give or take a few years -- 30 some years ago. Left quite an impression. Edie

PS - I paid $1.99 for the magnetic pin thing at HF. I think I just may get a few more for my quilting buddies! Neat gift, eh?

Edie, I got my little magnets before I knew there was a HF, and it was in town, so I didn't mind spending more for it rather than to have to travel to get one. The next time I'm there, at HF, I'll look for them and get some more. I seem to lose them at times, and the grand kids bend them playing with picking up safety pins.
