So many of you have helped give me a little push with this quilt.

Little background....

I saw this quilt using Northcott fabrics in a McCall's quilting magazine. The name of the pattern is "Healing Hands". Okay, I think I added all the legal copyright stuff to make sure everyone knows it's not my pattern and I'm not getting paid or anything to make it.

It was advertised for lack of a better word as a "cancer" quilt to be made with Northcott's cancer fabric line.

A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer in May. I had already planned on making the quilt, but for a different reason, for someone else. She has 3 small boys and is in charge of the children's ministry at her church. She just means everything to so many people in her life. I'm proud to tell you that my friend is healed and is now cancer free after chemo and radiation.

My mother in law helped me pick out the fabrics that I used for the pieced area. Then she suddenly died and I was at a quilter's crossroad. One morning in chat, the girls in there broke through my quilter's block and I've been working on it ever since.

Proud to tell you after piecing and stretching and adding and piecing some more, after piecing the backing and appliqueing the top it is F*******!!! I can't wait until it's presented!!!

FYI, the pic is small I know, but I cannot figure out how to enlarge it. I'm hoping as you look at it, you can magnify it so you can see all the work on the top!

Neat story! I love quilts that come with stories. You know they all have them! Write it down and keep it with the quilt. It sure is a beaut!

Did you try attaching the photo? At the bottom, where you submit, there's a button to attach files. You click on that and browse for the original photo. I'd love to see it larger!

SO GOOD FOR YOU! What a lovely Remembrance Quilt - not as much for your friend but for your MIL who helped you! So - you get 2 for one! I think it is a GRAND QUILT! You did a wonderful job! I TOTALLY agree with Chele - write down the sotry of the quilt - Because THIS quilt has a story to tell! It will mean even more to your friend and be even more appreciated - so you WILL be paying homage to both wonderful women!
Thanks for sharing - I say this with tears in my eyes thinking of your inspirations for this quilt! God Bless All!

Barb--great to see you here. I told you it was a good place. I'd like to make some quilts to hand out to nh's here to give to HD patients. The problem is that due to Hippa policies, I don't know how to find out how many to make and where to distribute them and stuff!

I'm gonna try the attach files now and see if I can get it bigger. Thank you everyone for your comments. The striped piece is the first piece I've picked totally by myself. Being tonally color blind, it can get kind of difficult getting just the right combo. I got the pinks easily, but I tried to get oranges and stuff and that didn't go well. Thank goodness I still had mil to help out!!

That's a real pretty quilt and is sure to be loved for years to come! Do write it's story! It's worth being remembered.
