Hmmmm.... to go or not to go? I checked... it's 110 miles and I never go to Winston Salem. However, I can easily justify a 50 mile trip to Ben Franklin in Kannapolis, which is almost half way to Walkerstown. I'd have to come up with a really good justification, but I'm sure ya'all could help me with that, right?

4dogs 08-21-2010 12:32 PM

I want to go too......I am at all sure where in NC this town is? is it close to Raleigh? Charlotte? I am in Asheville............

um, 4dogs, I am not in asheville. I am in winston salem. You would not have enjoyed the trip today. The fabric center was a big disappointment. It has gone down hill. I will probably not go back.

I think I will have to mapquest that town. If it was near where I was on Sat, I just may have to stop in the nest time I am down that a way.

mountain deb 08-22-2010 07:19 AM

Did not read all the blogs on the site before replying. I guess I am glad I stopped in Mary Jos of Gastonia, NC on Sat.

lnlwhitt 08-22-2010 10:57 AM

I have been to Gastonia, to Mary Jo's too...........WOW is what I can say about it.........you will spend ALL of your lunch money there, if you can stay for a hour or two....it is easy to see and get to, right off the Interstate!

chamby 08-23-2010 12:19 PM

I can't wait to visit Mary Jo's. I am going to start saving my money now.

Ann L 08-24-2010 03:41 PM

Where is it and what is it called? Have you been to Mary Jo's? There is a place in Floyd, VA that is an old school house that is wall to wall and three floors full. Great place. Hope you found some nice things.

It is called the fabric center in walkertown, nc.
What is the name of the place in Floyd Va?

Ann L 08-24-2010 04:45 PM

You know I really don't know the name of it but its an old school house right on main street. Can't miss it. Very small town. Its a nice ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway as well if you go that way. I will google it and see if I come up with a name and let you know. Its a wonderful place to get lost in.
