The LQS I frequent most of the time is just as helpful to the men as the women. They have a male employee, but the women are the first to help the male customers.
We also had a male biker who frequented the shop and he not only made quilts, but also designed many beautiful quilts. There are a few of his patterns still on the racks (he passed away this past year), but I'm sure they won't be there for long. |
My husband is very manly. Grizzle Adams type. Hunts, fishies. makes his own long bows and arrows, but he can sew ,iron and clean house better than most. All I. do is cook and do the laundry and do all the things i couldn't when i worked.

My LQS is very nice to everybody! Its a shame that people look down their noses at paying customers! Where are their manners???

The way I look at it my money spends anywhere I take it.

A chain fabric store in Denver gave off a bad vibe to me as if to say "you don't belong here." I will never go back after a couple of repeats...if I can avoid it. The other is the Fancy Tiger in Denver. It is a small general craft type shop with yarns and fabric but the fabric is mostly trendy (it is a small place). It is owned by a younger couple and in a more youthful area. But I will always support them when I can. They make me feel welcomed. Other than that, I now buy online. |

I went to a middle school and high school that taught archery and shooting to the boys but the girls were not allowed. It was during gym. can't remember but think that we had to learn dancing at that time. was mad because wanted to do the archery and shooting. more fun for me. not very coordinated when it comes to dancing. I look like I am having a seizure. So all you dads out there teach your sons to sew at least a hole in their cloths. it will do them a world of good later. my hubby can't iron or sew a button on to save his life. he has learned to vacuum since meeting me. hehe.
I relate to this. When I was in 10th grade I wanted to take Physics, but at that time you had to use a slide rule for computations, there were no computers that a regular citizen could get to. It was considered unseemly for girls to take the hard sciences in our community, and no other girls were taking Physics. I was not allowed to take it. My class was changed by Admin to the "creative writing" Journalism class, and I was expected to be a reporter for the school newspaper. I agree it's stupid for people not to be able to learn. And just so's ya know, I took Physics at university in the late-'80s-early-'90s, and did very well indeed thankyouverymuch. :-D :thumbup: |
