Gym shoe pattern?
I want to incorporate a gym shoe/athletic shoe into a quilt. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern?
I've looked on Pinterest/Google. I've found a black/white Converse. When I click the link it isn't there. So, can anyone point me in the direction of a gym shoe? It can be paper pieced. Thanks! Ginger |
You might want to try the same searches using 'sneaker' instead of gym shoe. That is a more common term in some parts of the US (not sure what's used elsewhere in the world).

lots of sneaker clip art here https://www.google.com/search?q=snea...h=837&dpr=1.13

I did one like the converse shoe. I am thinking it was a Fons and Porter magazine. I am not home to look at the moment. I'll see if I still have it later today

Thanks for the "sneaker" suggestion! I kept trying to come up with other words and sneaker never entered my mind!

I found this searching for athletic shoe quilt. Try several different words for the shoe.

If that doesn't work, you might consider kids coloring pages.....

Here are paper pieced patterns. The first is free, the other has a small charge on Craftsy

I must have given my magazine away but I did find it was in Quiltmaker May/June 2012.

SuziSew.....I tried multiple times to find the Craftsy one. I couldn't. I emailed them earlier today to ask where it was. The other one you shared I came across that one and the links were dead!
You rock!! CJSews I'm going to see if I can get ahold of that magazine too! Thanks ladies!! |
https://images.search.yahoo.com/sear...g&action=click Here's one site - there was another with even more. Google 'Outline of an athletic shoe'.
|
I haven't a clue how to make an outline into a paper pieced item.
If there's a tutorial some place please post it. Thanks for the link Irishrose2! |
i go to kids coloring pages for 99% of my applique, try simple, or basic or kindergarden, they lines are clearer and the design simpler.

Try Disorderly Threads. It is an etsy shop and she has the cutest in the hoop zippered bag using an appliqued high top tennis shoe AND she also sells just the design but it is appliqued and a machine embroidery design. So you have to have an embroidery machine to use it. Hope this helps.
Here is a link to her shop......https://www.etsy.com/shop/DisorderlyThreads |
Thanks much!!

I have a copy of high top sneakers that is on my someday list of to do projects. I'll look for that pattern later and post which magazine it's in.

Ginger, you have to purchase the pattern and then Craftsy will allow access.

For a quilt for my DGD, I took a photograph of her dance shoes, with her feet in them, blew them up and then cropped her feet out. I used the resulting shoe as the pattern for the quilt. I'm sure you could do the same for sneakers. In fact, her HipHop dance shoes were sneakers! Here is a photo of how they came out.

Ok, I found the pattern I was looking for, it is called "I Love My All Stars" by Sonja Callaghan. It is in Quiltmaker #145 - May/June'12 issue. This is the link: http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/d...html?idx=14029
