When I was building my house I got my counter tops there and a jazcuzzi tub that works great all for 150.00.

deranged_damsel 08-19-2011 07:57 PM

I bought a new jet tub there too!

Celeste 08-19-2011 08:11 PM

Never heard of it, but I'm glad I do now! Thank you.

Edited: dang, there isn't one close by! I live in a big metropolitan area!

amma 08-19-2011 08:21 PM

Thank you for sharing this with us :D:D:D

owlvamp 08-19-2011 08:42 PM

Do they have them in every state?

maine ladybug 08-19-2011 08:53 PM

When we renovated our house a few years ago we donated windows, doors, etc to them.

SherriB 08-19-2011 08:58 PM

We have one here locally but they are rather high in price. DH and I have gone there a couple times and been surprised at how much they want for things.

When our house was broken into we went there and got a new metal insulated door!!! Great price!!!

Charlee 08-19-2011 09:36 PM

I've bought sewing machines there too....and cast iron skillets...and...and...and....

Neat places.

craftybear 08-19-2011 09:39 PM

thanks for letting us know, will need to see if any in my area

Lady Crafter 08-19-2011 09:40 PM

They are neat places to spend some time ... and a few $$

Chasing Hawk 08-19-2011 10:03 PM

Be thankful you haven't been to the one near us.
Their prices are just under retail. When they opened a new branch in our town everything had such a low price. We went back a few weeks later and the prices were just as bad as they are in Bend.

We rarely shop there anymore. If we want to pay those prices we will shop at Lowe's and get it brand new.

wanda lou 08-19-2011 11:35 PM

yes we have one.

Yarn or Fabric 08-20-2011 03:22 AM

Sounds like the one you have has much MUCH better prices than the one we have... a desk at ours is $50 to start... I did go in to look at cabinets since I am actually going to be a big sewing room in our new house but they had no prices on them and the tops were separate. I'll have to go in on another day.. I'm looking to get something for my cutting mat... I've also been scouring Craigslist and having some good results with that :D

katesnanna 08-20-2011 03:52 AM

Looked it up here in Australia but they are more about building homes for low income earners.

QuiltnNan 08-20-2011 04:03 AM

i used to go with my folks to one in the Carolinas. sadly, we don't have one near me in MN

OCQuilts 08-20-2011 04:05 AM

I'm shocked to hear of High prices in some of these stores! I have 2 H4H Restores near me. We have found unbelievable bargains there! You have to go back often because items come and go all the time! My quilt shop has a western theme. A steak house with a western theme went out of business and donated their furnishings to H4H. We got there in time to snap up the few remaining items! Love that place!

Nancy in MN - There is a Restore on County Rd D, just west of 35W, on the north side of the road. I have never been there, but now I am making plans to visit today.

I agree with you on that. I was looking for some things and went to the one nearest me. Very disappointed.

we have a fantastic one in my town that is very clean and priced to turn over the merchandise quickly. I was on the committee to start it up. We researched other stores when deciding to open it and saw some great ones and some really dirty and poorly run ones. Best part is that the money goes back to building affordable homes as a hand up, not a hand out.

deranged_damsel 08-20-2011 05:54 AM

the lady that works there knows we are remodeling our home, she gives me discounts everytime. last time she gave me two windows, 2' x 6' for 10$ each, and a cabinet for free!

you DO have to check back often if you are looking for the GREAT deals tho ;)

have fun!!!

PaperPrincess 08-20-2011 06:13 AM

The two around here are fabulous. We donated windows from a remodel. Seems like every time we go they are having a half off sale. As long as what I bring home is less than what I drop off, I feel as tho I'm making progress.

pscott392 08-20-2011 03:51 PM

We used to have one but the person running it apparently had no clue - looked like a bad thrift store instead of ReStore. Didn't last long - went out of business. Don't know if there's another one near. Enjoyed the one in VA when I lived there.

Scakes 08-20-2011 03:59 PM

We try to make it over to the local restore at least once a week. Never know what you'll find . Paint, shelves, entertainment center, dishes, and just a few days ago I bought a featherweight.

Rachel 08-20-2011 04:02 PM

somehow... maybe because I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity (although I'm sure it could be done online, or calling the Restore store), I got on their mailing list. Every week, I get a list (with pictures) of some of their "feature" items.

Stitchit123 08-20-2011 04:22 PM

I love our re-store I got a GE Profile gas cook top and double electric oven they were only 9months old and a new cast iron/enamel kitchen sink all for $125 It was on sale at Lowes for $385 that same week plus I got all kinds of paint and Purdy paint brushes I'm like a kid in a candy store-- I hate to leave

Yellow Bird 08-20-2011 04:23 PM

I LOVE those stores...great stuff, great organization.

deranged_damsel 08-20-2011 04:47 PM

I cant wait until I get to design/build my new sewing room!!! the ideas are already swirling :D
I feel like the restore is... Disneyland!!!

ann31039 08-20-2011 07:15 PM

i miss the one in Durham, NC. They had so much stuff, and books, and even sewing machines. reasonable prices too. The one in Columbus, Ga is just getting going and doesn't have much yet. it will get there, i hope.
