I loved your story. I was going to read it to my family but wanted to show them the picture first so they would really understand what I was telling them and before I could speak, my 17 year old son said "you mean the swastika looking thing"? I could not believe he saw it. They still laughed at your story about the swastika bags.

LOL...I told part of the story to my DH and showed him the picture...Then I finished reading it and had to show him again. Neither one of us noticed it at the beginning....OMG..Still LOL.

I just had my 16 yo daughter come look at the pic and asked her what she thought of the quilt block. She says "Mom! Why is it the Nazi sign!

I have to admit I had a hard time seeing it myself. I was planning on making a quilt with this block but guess maybe I better rethink it. Especially not make one for this daughter!

Why is it that quilters didn't recognize it, but kids and non quilters did?? Do we just have "selective seeing?"

'selective seeing' - good one!

Yes I guess we do - look at all the mistakes we see but others don't.

Thats to funny. I made my brother a wallhanger several years ago (1 of my first) I think it was the Chevron block and my nephew noticed the pattern made a swastick symbol about a year ago so now when I go to my brothers thats all I see in that wallhanger. I'm in the process of replacing it. :-D

I think it only did that because I duplicated the green in the fourth row. I wouldn't have had that, had I not. Please do make a fence rail they're really pretty just don't do what I did. (At least I learned on a bag and not on a quilt...)

I didn't see it til you mentioned it. It's a beautiful block otherwise.

It's a beautiful block, I had to squint to see it. Kids have such keen eyes and ears lol
