half hexagon quilting

I am starting to teach myself how to make the half hexagon quilts. Am having problem with quarter inch seams that are done on an angle. Should I cut the corners (dog ears when sewn) or should I leave them alone? Please help.

I would agree with what the people in the room advised, you can cut them off if you want, sometimes it helps line things up if you dont cut them off, and its very important that you maintain accurate scant 1/4 inch seams.......

I just got these rulers last week and they actually have the corners notched off so you won't have points at the corners when you cut them out which means you won't have the dog ears once they are sewn together. I personally cut the little dog ears off whenever I am matching up something because. . . oh, I don't know why I do it, just always have!! Maybe I saw it somewhere or someone told me to a long time ago. . .
