Half Square triangle papers

Just bought a roll of hst paper and not exactly sure about sewing and cutting. My paper is for 2 in finished on 6 in wide strip. Do I sew off the strip, lift needle, turn and then go down the next side...do I back stitch at all to prevent stitches from coming out when I tear the papers?
When I cut, I know to cut on the solid lines the X and the + but do I trim the sides...there are solid lines there too.
Should have looked at my pattern more closely...have to cut over 100 HSTs which is a lot for me.
Thanks for any info.

Or, did you get ( thangles) ? If so just type using ' thangles' into your search engine and you will find many tutorials, videos
