Half square triangle quilt pattern to form a star
Half square triangle quilt pattern to form a star:
I am looking for a good quilt pattern with easy to understand directions to make a half square triangle quilt that forms a star. So many times when my friends and I purchase a pattern that looks great on the outside, we find the directions are very lacking and wonder why we wasted our money purchasing the pattern. So if anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it! Thank you. |
"A star for all seasons" has half square and quarter square triangles. It's a 24 page booklet with (I think) great directions. It is by Wendy Gilbert. The booklet is for placemats and table runners but the star is great and makes a great quilt!

The carpenters star is a good one There is a tute for it in the tutorial section here

There are tons of those. I made a few of "Star of Virginia" blocks earlier this year for a block lotto. We used Quilterscache.com for the pattern. It was easy to follow. Her patterns are free. The downside is that you have to figure your own yardage requirements. It only gives you the fabric requirements for one block.
This is the page for blocks starting with "S", which I would think might give you lots of options for star shaped blocks. http://www.quilterscache.com/Alphabe...stPageS_Z.html |
Jenny Doan from the Missouri Star Quilt co. has done several star blocks. You might go to YouTube and see if there is a tutorial to follow.

There are sooooooooooo many possibilities!
Let Google help you take a look at many. Perhaps save your $$ .... and sketch out on graph paper what you want to do? |

I've always liked the exploding star as a pattern using HST to form a large star over the entire quilt. But I can't recommend a pattern for it because it is very easy to figure it out on graph paper. A member did that and posted it here: https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...ar-t92871.html
Several other members found a pattern for it that can be found here, the 5th one pictured on this link http://www.teaquilts.com/products/ |
This quilt is all HST: https://www.quiltingboard.com/tutori...t-t152544.html
