I use my 6" square ruler and line up the 45 degree line. Easy-peasy

what would we do without our 6" square and 6 1/2 x 24 " rulers?? lol :)

I have tried lots of different ways, and I finally just went back to cutting them in to triangles first, then sewing them together with my 1/4 in seam guide, and they always come out perfect for me. I chain piece them, and it does take some time, but I hate having to square them up, or worry about matching the seams, and they not meeting. Guess for me, the old fashioned way just works better

well i just got done with a block for the second time, the first one i used that new gadget and it turned out real real wonky, the second time i did it i marked the middle and the two cutting lines sewed and then cut in the middle and it looks 90% better. Any one want to buy my new gadget thingy? LOL

Cool ruler, but I bet you could mark the corner of one of your square rulers using a Sharpie with the same lines and do that, too. I have lots of rulers, and find I don't use them nearly as much as I thought I would.

These are the ones I have and I really like them (just wish there was less writing on them, would make it a little easier to line up). The web-site lists $12.99 for both. I got mine at Joanne's on sale 40%off. I don't think $6.50 is to much to pay for accuracy in my case. (just my humble opinion)

Here's a tip I got somewhere but can't remember where. Don't mark all those squares, take a piece of painters tape (or similar) lift the foot on your machine and put your needle down.
Lay the tape scant 1/4 inch to the right of the needle and lay it down towards you about 6 or 7 inches.

When you sew your squares, put the point of the square under your foot on top (even with) of the tape and follow the oposite corner of the square with the length of the tape all the way.

Ta Da! you have just sewed one side. Now flip after chaining some and do all over. After your done sewing, just take ur ruler and cut halfway between the sewing lines.

You have just made half square triangles without marking them.
