DD always has a Halloween party, complete with costumes. When I said I didn't have anything to wear, she said "come as a quilter"
What would a quilter wear?? Maybe I could chase ppl around with my rotary cutter

erstan947 10-19-2010 01:14 PM

What comes to mind is a quilt jacket, quilt skirt, quilt shirt. Let us know what you decide on!

dellareya 10-19-2010 01:18 PM

I think you could be in your P.Js and slippers. One pair of glasses on top of your head and one to wear (because you don't remember they are on you head). Put the tape measure around your neck.
Put lots of little treads all over your clothes. Carry around your spray starch in one hand and rotary cutter in the other. When you talk to the party guests, admire their costumes and say "I could make a cool quilt out of this fabric". LOL

Ditto I would have to go in my tShirt(extra long one) and barefeet with threads and little pieces of fabric all over me a threaded needle stuck in it

Maggiesmom 10-19-2010 01:38 PM

Sew quilt blocks on an old shirt then drape the measuring tape around your neck, put a pincushion on your wrist or thumb, wear your slippers, stick a pencil behind your ear and a thimble on your finger.

How about if you just "wear" a quilt? Wear some pajamas and wrap a quilt around your shoulders.

plainpat 10-19-2010 02:19 PM

DH says he can just go with pants pockets turned wrong side out to show quilters cost $$$.
LOL

And make sure that you are covered in litle threads and ends of threads from cutting them off. And add a couple of band-aids from not being so completely careful with the rotary cutters. And a pair of scissors on a leash.

Tee hee

Not a quilter costume but a really easy peasy one. Take a box of cereal and stick a steak knife into it. Carry it around. You are a serial killer.

fatquarters 10-19-2010 04:46 PM

Make sure you cut a block out of the back of DH shirt like george in the fons and porter commercials . he he!

pjustice63 10-19-2010 04:52 PM

Friend came to guild last year.....had pieces of fabric pinned to her clothes with sign that said "Will work for fabric".

RDM 10-19-2010 05:21 PM

What about a vest from 2nd hand store, use it like fisherman do and attach your rotary cutter, flat head pins, seam ripper, bobbins, scissors on a ribbon. For vest back stitch on a large quilt block... then a patchwork skirt or a quilt done into a wrap skirt, print out small quilt blocks & glue to old shoes, like others said your necklace could be a tape measure maybe with spools of thread on it, ..... a few quick thoughts.

A shirt and pants covered in thread?

Kathy N 10-19-2010 05:23 PM

My husband would say any outfit with thread stuck all over it. He says I can't leave the house without thread sticking to me!

sewgray 10-19-2010 05:41 PM

What a hoot.

anniec55 10-19-2010 06:43 PM

just spend the day prior to party quilting and by the time to go you will be appropriately decorated with threads, just don't put the tools up, measuring tape, scissors lanyard, pincushion (wrist type) and a few pins stuck in the front of the shirt should do.....don't forget the glasses! but most importantly, be comfortable and have FUN!!!

tooMuchFabric 10-19-2010 07:03 PM

Wear a quilt as a shawl, a table runner as a hat, and have all sorts of quilting accoutrements and paraphernalia hanging off of you.

Take blade out of cutter and add some red fabric around the edge.

You all have the cutest ideas......I bet you could all win at the party.Haven't really decided, but it's Sat, so need to make a quilting outfit or go plain.I'm scary enough without a costume LOL

Pajamas?

plainpat 10-20-2010 02:03 PM

Several ppl mentioned PJs, but it's going to be a warm day & the party will get started before dark. Think I'll just put patches on a top,add a necklace to hold the quilting notions & maybe a "Minnie Pearl hat" hat.
