funny you should say that. because our joanns- you literally have the gal cut while customers are lining up at the cash register and then you go over and stand in line to get checked out. Now, I'm ok with this if its truely a discount place- but some of joanns quilting fabric has risen to 10 dollars and up a yard- now in my opinion that qualifies me for the same one on one treatment of the local LQS- because I go to Joanns for a real deal

There are only 2 Hancock Fabrics stores left in this area, all the others closed. From what I've seen in the store closest to me, there's already more craft junk than I'm comfortable with.
I usually only buy garment fabrics from them as those fabrics are better quality than Joann's.

Frarose - I do live very close to Hancocks and Hobby Lobby. I live off Gravois near 270. If you are in these two stores very often, we probably have passed one another at some time. I am there all the time. Check the sales and coupons every Sunday morning in the newspaper and then plan my trip for the week. I have really built up my stash in the last 6 mo. Don't know when I will ever use it all up, but will try. I go to Jackmans and take their classes. They have some great teachers and it's not all that far away. Do you go for the classes? They have several "free" classes and I have attended these and have learned so much. They also have show and tell and you get to see others and what they are doing. It's very interesting. Glad to know someone is close-happy quilting!

Our Hancock's is doing the remodeling right now. Looks like a LOT of crafts, etc.....rows and rows of cross-stitch kits, beads, etc etc. Just wondering about their fabric....as they have the most in stock in our city. We do have a HObby Lobby, but our Hancock's has much more they HL....or at least they Did.

I asked the employees here and they told me Hancock Fabrics wants to become more like craft stores than fabric stores. With JoAnn's and Michaels this does not make sense to me.

I didn't know they were remodeling but they just had a big clearance sale so maybe that's why. I hope they don't close, it' one block away which is very convenient if I have to run down to get something quick like thread!

Two years ago I gave up a JoAnns (twenty miles away) simply because of their attitudes, length of standing in lines, and lack of quality quilting fabrics. Our local Hancock Fabrics presently is rumored to be getting ready for a remodel and the talk about town, is no one is going to like it as a fabric store. I imagine, if the crafty things do take over, I will write them off too. As it is some of their roller-printed fabrics fade and their batiks are too loud for my liking. Lucky for me, there is a LQS just down the road but, again, the prices going up will limit my purchases. I hate to be negative, but store upper management needs to understand the wishes of a quilter. We are not a dead group; there are millions of us needing quality fabrics. I hope the new CEO does a little more research before reducing the fabric line in lieu of scrapbooks, beading and the like.

I noticed you're from Woodbury, MN. My dauther works at this store. I know they have a new manager so I assumed they were remodeling due to change in management (not that all stores were doing it). I know they're going to carry more Wilton supplies - not sure what else. I'll have to get the scoop.
