I definitely order a fair amount from them, partly because they always sent a catalogue, and I could show it to my quilt group, some of whom don't have access to a computer.

Yes, we have had a few 'cancellations' at times, but I just placed an order online on Monday and I definitely noted that it stated the fabric was in stock.

My biggest problem now is that they aren't sending catalogues overseas any more. They have said that they hope to again in the future, but in the meantime, they are not likely to be getting much from me in the way of orders because we like to choose from the catalogue. I have tried the online catalogue and it's laughable - would take forever to look at every page and then read the descriptions/prices etc.

Sure do appreciate the heads up,never ordered from them, but thought about it before. Usually go through fabric.com they are excellent. Just wish they had a little more to choose from in their new lines.

Not just you. It seems like their website it behind in the capabilities of what the newer sites can do. And yes, it is frustrating to order, just to be cancelled!

Not only that, but I think their prices are somewhat higher than others.

I just had an order cancelled. A woman from Hancocks had called me to let me know that they only had 5 yards in stock instead of the 5 1/2 listed on thier web site. I agreed that 5 yards would be fine; she said they'd ship it out. Two days ago (about 2 weeks after my conversation with them) I got an email notification that they were out of stock... What's up with that?

Don't like other people choosing my fabric as a 'substitute' either. If I'm paying, I at least want to select the fabric I buy! Another advantage to speaking with a person is to specify 'no substitutions'.

Now that's a great idea! I'm slapping my head going DUH! Thank you, I guess I was just so frustrated I could not think it through. :)

Thanks to everyone else who answered too. I'm glad it's not just me.....Mary

It is just as safe to give someone the cc# over a phone as over the internet.

I guess it's no problem when you are buying stash but when you are buying coordinating fabrics for a project, it's a huge problem. And it does not seem to matter if the fabric is on sale or not. I can't tell you how much orphan fabric I now have. GRRRRR.

I don't see a way to give Hancocks special instructions when ordering either. Does anybody have suggestions short of calling in an order by phone? I hate giving my credit card number out like that.

Thanks, Mary

Yes, that has happened to me. And then they increase the shipping charges because now I haven't met the minimum for free shipping. So I no longer use HoP. I use other online stores or ebay.
