Does anybody else on here have experience with waiting a long time for delivery with this site? I don't think I am going to order from them again. It has been a good 2 weeks since I ordered from them and I still have not received my order. I order from other place in the US and usually get them in less than a week. I wonder why it takes Hancocks so long.

craftybear 11-25-2010 10:02 AM

I haven't ordered from them, but can you send them email to ask them what the hold up is?

IrishNY 11-25-2010 10:20 AM

I ordered from them once and it took a long time and they didn't send one of the items. When I emailed, they were less than helpful, so I canceled the item. They replied I couldn't cancel online but had to call. I told them if they could take my money online, they could certainly cancel an order online. After another round they canceled it and I decided to not order from them again. Just my experience...

Quiltforme 11-25-2010 10:20 AM

I have to say I live 4 hours from a store I ordered from and it took them about 2 weeks to send they do get busy and it could just happen they might be behind. I would agree with Craftybear email them to find out the shipping timeframe. Sorry it is taking so long!

Jamiestitcher62 11-25-2010 10:22 AM

I've ordered from them and had no problems. I will be ordering a kit from them next week that just came out. Folk Art Village from the Williamsburg Collection of Windham Fabrics. It looks like a Charles Wysocki painting. Really cool. I love that Americana stuff.

sunflower126 11-25-2010 11:45 AM

I ordered from them a couple of weeks ago and had my fabrics within 5 days. Also I ordered 2 1/2 yds of each fabric and received 2 3/4 yds. so I was quite happy with my experience.

quilter on the eastern edge 11-25-2010 11:59 AM

Did they send an email when they shipped your order? I ordered from them a couple of weeks ago and my fabric arrived last Friday, less time than normal. Maybe, with all the mail activity this time of year, your order is delayed in shipping. What part of Ontario are you in?

Cuilteanna 11-25-2010 12:00 PM

I just placed an order recently and half of it was sent very quickly (despite the free shipping offer). The second half was backordered, and I have had to wait a very long time for backordered items in the past. But at least this time I knew it wasn't in stock before I ordered it!

I did get an email when it shipped.

ghostrider 11-25-2010 12:04 PM

I order from Hancocks of Paducah quite often and the only time anything has ever taken more than a few days to get shipped to me is when it is backordered or out of stock when I order it. When that happens, they keep me well advised of when it is expected to be in and when it ships. I have never had any problems with them at all and they are at the top of my list of online places to shop. They do ship FedEx ground so that takes up to 10 days to get anywhere but they tell you up front that it will take that long.

In my experience with shopping online, you get far faster and nicer customer service if you take the time to call and talk to a living person than if you simply send an email off into space. And generally, you get back the same attitude you give. :D

woody 11-25-2010 12:24 PM

I took advatage of the free shipping offer they had recently and I had my order in 6 days and I am in Australia! Now that is fast service. I have never waited more than 10 days. I have alway been very happy with them.

I frankly don't find it to be my responsibility to have to take time during my workday to call a retailer to correct an order. If they accept orders online, they should expect follow-up using the same channel. The responsibility to handle the order professionally and respond in a courteous manner is on the business once they have taken my money.

MTS 11-25-2010 01:22 PM

I've been ordering for years from them.
I've found that the wait time is much longer right after they've mailed a new catalog - they get inundated with orders.
Maybe they just don't staff up for it. Otherwise, I usually get deliveries from HP within a week.

I did send them an email but I never heard back. I am in Ontario one hour from Ottawa.

Lori S 11-25-2010 01:39 PM

I have never had a positve "shipping" experience with them. I have never gotten any order in less than 2 1/2 weeks. Most have been 3 weeks. This is not exceptable to me when I am paying premium prices.

I'd give it another few days and then I'd contact them again. Several times when I've ordered from them, it has taken 2 -3 weeks for the package to get here - customs, etc..

goofygirl2u 11-25-2010 02:23 PM

I haven't ordered from them yet. I'm still waiting on the catalog I requested over 2 months ago. At this rate, I won't be ordering anything anytime soon.

EasyPeezy 11-25-2010 02:23 PM

I've ordered from Hancocks of Paducah and other places in the US. Some
orders arrive within a week but mostly 2-3 weeks and I've had one through
Etsy that took over a month. She shipped as soon as she received my
payment but it sure took a very long time to get here. I'd say give it another
week.
By the way I just received an order from HoP today. I placed my order on
2nd Nov.

In my experience, when taking the time to make a phone call to talk to a "living person".......I get a recorded message "Your call is very important to us. please stay on the line and the next available rep. will be with you shortly." "shortly" is often 10 to 30 min. Some of us don't have that kind of time to listen to music on the phone and frankly, the music doesen't do much for my "attitude"

leaha 11-25-2010 02:46 PM

I have never had a problem with Handcocks of Pauucha, I get my orders in a timely maner, but I go to the store in Person most of the time, it is huge! and so much fun to spend the whole day just looking at all the eye candy!
Every single person that I have met there from Mr. Handcock, his sons and all the people who work for them are always so nice, and during the show week I do not think I would ever be able to be as nice, it is packed!! and all the rest rooms inside are for laidies only, they bring out porta potties for the gents in the parking lot.
from every fabric shop I have been in this one is my #1 favorit!! and If I ever move back to maine I will shop by mail and come down in person for the quilt show and a day at Handcocks!

np3 11-25-2010 04:52 PM

Sorry this happened to you.

krabadan 11-25-2010 04:57 PM

I've always had prompt service unless the item was back ordered. Even then, though I didn't have a really long wait.

sewmagic 11-25-2010 10:50 PM

Just ordered some fabric with free shipping. Must say the order came in a couple of days later. Not a problem!!!

Jan in VA 11-26-2010 01:05 AM

I've been ordering from them for 20 years or more and have never had a delayed delivery. Once, when I lived in TX, an Olfa cutting mat arrived slightly warped; they sent a new one immediately and refused to have the damaged one sent back to them.

quilterella 11-26-2010 01:50 AM

I also ordered a catalog and never received it...so I definitely won't be ordering anything from them.

I had problems getting my catalogue. I emailed them about it and they said they were having problems with their international shipping (of a catalogue? to Canada?). Finally, I complained about it on their Facebook site and I had the catalogue shortly after that. They certainly don't want the bad publicity.

BTW, getting the Hancock's catalogue is like getting the Sears Christmas Wish Book in August. It is dog-earred and well-worn from use!!

plainpat 11-26-2010 03:47 AM

I ordered there once & after 3 wks of nothing, sent several e mails & it seemed they didn't have the fabric I'd ordered. No prob, the prob was in not letting me know. Most ppl like them.
I send orders to places that have good CS.
One reason I love Thousands of Bolts is because their order page shows you how many yards of any fabric they have.

I'm definitely one of the lucky ones. I've never had a less than positive experience when ordering from them. My daughter in Australia usually receives her orders within two weeks.

gollytwo 11-26-2010 08:15 AM

I'm a big Hancock Paducah fan; great sales.
I get their deliveries about the same as other vendors, maybe a little longer; seldom in a rush so doesn't matter to me.
Rarely buy full price except if I need for a current project.
My one objection is that they insist on using my first name - drives me nuts.
It's one of my pet peeves in life - to be addressed by my Christian name by perfect strangers.

plainpat 11-26-2010 08:40 AM

LOL......I answer to Pat,Patti & Patricia, but not to Patsy.I was in a Dr's office line once when they kept calling for Patsy. Took her a while to realize I was there.

I have requested a catalog several times, and I have yet received one, so I don't guess they want my business.

yep...similar experience here....my order came scattered over several month...what if you ordered to start a quilt, it's impossible...solution never ever order at Hancocks again

:-( :-( :-(

craftyone27 11-26-2010 08:47 PM

Too funny - I just posted something about Hancocks today! Another board member posted about great customer service and I made this post.
Good to know that the CT customer service is up to par!! I had a really disappointing experience in a similar situation with Hancocks of Paducah about two years ago. My mom ordered me two of the fat quarter packs of the Metro Blue collection by Marcus Brothers, it came uop as out of stock with an estimated ship date. When I finally got my package 2 of the 15 fabrics in the pack were from a totally different Marcus Brothers line and did not go at all with the collection I ordered. I contacted Hancocks and they put in an order for the missing fabrics at no charge - laughable - it will be two years in March and the order still shows as pending on their website. They will never again be my first choice for mail order!!

DebbyT 11-27-2010 09:56 AM

I ordered something Monday or Tuesday on-line, and got a confirmation of shipping with Fed Ex this morning(Sat). I expect delivery Monday. When the order was made, it noted to expext delivery Thursday or Friday. We had a holiday this week so I figured no sooner that Friday. So if it comes Monday, that is pretty good. Also I got an e-mail stating there is a back order on one item.

IrishNY 11-27-2010 10:18 AM

It appears, from all the responses, that HoP is just not consistent. They seem to deliver a full range of service from excellent to really bad. I hope they are able to move towards being consistently excellent because they have great merchandise and I know that more of us would like to shop with them.
