Wow, I just got the new spring 2011 catalog and there sure are some beautiful fabrics in there. So nice to look at on a cold windy snowy day. I had an absolute fabricgasam when I got to the batiks!

Raggiemom 01-12-2011 12:37 PM

I love batiks. It's probably a good thing I don't get that catalog. PunkQuilter, how far north are you? I attended college in Potsdam and lived in Altona for 9 months.

linz83 01-12-2011 01:43 PM

I got mine yesterday!! THere is just something about this catalog I cannot put it down! I am glad I am not the only one.

amandasgramma 01-12-2011 01:47 PM

I was pouting this morning, because I couldn't get the website to let me order. DH went to get the mail....came back with the catalog!!!!!!! Apparently I ordered it sometime in the past!! WOW!!! Now I'm going to go drool over "stuff"!!! :)

buckyfan19 01-12-2011 01:50 PM

Anyone been to the store? Worth a trip? I just hit the website and my "wish" list is pretty long. I also signed up for the weekly email specials... any ideas of what type of "specials" they give? Coupons for %age off??
I am trying to decide if I should wait to order or pull the trigger now.
Thanks
:)

And you didn't buy anything yet?!?!?! I am so weak!! Mine came yesterday, logged onto the website this morning and ended up ordering $242 worth of sale stuff; jelly rolls, batiks, lots of great stuff. Look on the back of your catalog and see if there is the 10% off source code. I had never seen their catalog before, and yes it is to die for. I also got free shipping for spending over $200. Yes, I am a very weak person

cashmommy11 01-12-2011 02:01 PM

i got my frist one the other day and boy is it a nice catalog..and can see myself getting into trouble with it

sueisallaboutquilts 01-12-2011 03:49 PM

Love this topic! I took the catalog to bed with me and won a war with my cat over whether I was going to read it or snuggle with him. He "kissed" me but I told him to sleep near Daddy lol
Isn't it almost overwhelming??? I was going crazy over all those fabbies :)

klgreene 01-12-2011 06:42 PM

I gave it a quick lookie lou, but am so afraid of of looking, because I'll want it all.

I couldn't get it to work on their site either. I just emailed them my address, they said they'd get me one. :)

Yes, I have been to the store - my DD lives really close to it and we go to Hancocks of Paducah (not to be confused with Hancock Fabric). They have 10 ROWS OF BATIKS - plus blenders, wide backing batiks, etc. etc. - I have been told that "some" women actually cry when they first walk in the door!

PunkQuilter 01-12-2011 10:05 PM

10 r.rr....r.r..rows?

PunkQuilter 01-12-2011 10:07 PM

Raggiemom I am in the bustling metropolis of Champlain pop. 1,100-If you lived in Altona, I know you know where I am..leaning on my snow shovel. 90 seconds to Canada, 4 minutes to Vermont.

I have not bought anything yet for these simple yet somewhat complicated reasons.

1. I can't narrow it down. I am like a little kid with the toy catalog-I point and say 'I want that' turn the page and point and say 'I want that'.

2. Batiks-my Kryptonite.

3. When I get on the website to order I look at the hundreds and hundreds of clearance fabrics and want all them too.

4. I often get overwhelmed trying to priortize with supplies I 'need' things I need to finish and keeping in line with my budget which is not strict, but I still have to watch.

Simple-right?

Well, I ordered $242 of stuff, that is after the 10% discount and free shipping. I was having a ball. I had filled out my order, typed in the source code and my final cost dropped below $200 so no free shipping, back shopping I went till I got above the $200 mark. They had so many batiks on sale, I wanted them all. Can't wait for them to come so I can plan my next projects. Oh, and I ordered some jelly rolls too. So now I really HAVE to be good for a while

Here is a link to a picture of the inside of Hancocks of Paducah that I took the last time that I was there - visiting my DD. She gave me a gift card to Hancocks of Paducah for Christmas - so can hardly wait until this weather warms up so that we can go - 5 hours away from here. Oh, and to see DD and her DH too.

I've stopped ordering from them because I had so many problems. Three different orders, NO email confirmations, two of the orders were backordered or cancelled and no notification. So three strikes, I'm done. But I will use the catalog and order from other sellers.

Very interesting. I got an e-mail this morning saying my order had been shipped and will arrive tomorrow. I ordered yesterday and everything I ordered was a sale item.

Batik lovers should check out www.fabricfanatics.com , they are local to me and have probably 1000+ bolts of batiks for 8.50 yard. They only carry batiks and they are high quality only.

Thank you for clarifying that, b/c I was about to ask, lol. I have been to a Hancock Fabric store and was like, "what's the big deal?" Prefer Joann's to HF.

I see there are two different websites, too. Off to browse...

maryb119 01-13-2011 12:49 PM

I got mine today. I got to go to Hancocks of Paducah last summer on vacation. It was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and the selection was amazing!! My husband sat on a bench by the door with another husband and they had a good conversation while us "girls" shopped. It was so nice to have some new fabric to pet in the car on the long ride home. The catalog is so full of beautiful fabrics, I don't know where to start.

Halfsquare 02-01-2011 11:42 PM

I like that term - fabricgasm.
I will remember that!

I would love to order a catalog. What is their website?

Halfsquare 02-02-2011 01:37 PM

If you love batiks they have wonderful pictures of tons of batiks in their catalog.

quilter1943 02-02-2011 05:00 PM

Yes, I have been to the store. They had everything! It is arranged beautifully, they had excellent customer service. There were benches outside for DH to wait and at that time an ice cream shop close by. Don't know if I'd drive from Fl to go, but we do try to go through there when we go back to Illinois.

I just ordered fabric from their web site. They are very prompt in shipping the order. I enjoyed my visit there last summer.

I think we are going to visit this summer. We are buying a new car and will take a road trip - possibly. HOwever - I will have to ship fabric home as a convertible sports car won't hold anything!
