Hancock's of Paducah - WOW
Here is my post from yesterday on this board - Outstanding Service:
OMG - I was just going to post how impressed I am with Hancock's of Paducah (not the same as Hancock's). I tried and tried to order some things the past few days, using an online e-card that my daughter had given me a long time ago. It just would not work. So, I called them today and the dang e-card had expired last week. They let me use it anyway on the phone. Whew!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was trying to use an expired gift card that my daughter had sent to me a year ago and it would not go through. So, I called Hancock's of Paducah yesterday - not to be confused with the Hancock's Fabric Stores - and the lady was so nice and let me use the e-code even though it had expired. I placed my order late in the day and got an email confirmation of my total order. Then, very late in the day, I got an email saying that my order had been shipped. Lo and behold, this morning about 9a.m. I was sitting at my computer, very close to my front door, and my front door screen opened and then closed. I jumped up, scared to death, in time to see the Fed-Ex man walking down my sidewalk to his truck. In the door was my package from Hancock's of Paducah. The most beautiful fabric that I have ever seen. First I ordered a beautiful Peacock Panel and then a package of 12-fat quarters in the same line - Timeless Treasures Enchanted Plume. OMG that is the most beautiful, elegant fabric. Probably won't be able to cut this fabric though - it is just too pretty. Praise to Hancock's of Paducah - my order delivered to my door in less than 24 hours. But, we live only 5 hours away. My daughter lives in Paducah and we visit her (well actually we never fail to go to Hancock's of Paducah every trip). WOWWWWWW |
I am very impressed! There's nothing better than great customer service. They do need to change their policy on gift cards, though. They should never expire. The money has been paid...it should be good.
I agree that Enchanted Plume is some of the most beautiful fabric. I have some myself I got from Hancocks and just love it. Have fun with what ever you choose to make with it.

I had a snafu with an order from Hancock's a few years back and when I called early the next morning after receiving my package, it was actually one of the owners who answered the phone. Boy, was I impressed and even more so when he shipped what was missing (which may have been my mistake) and did not charge me for the separate shipping. I would not hesitate to order from them again.
Yes, their customer service is one of the best. It is a family run quilt store by a father and his two sons.
I LOVE that store! Stopped on the motorcycles on our way from Georgia to Michigan and bought so much fabric I had them ship it home for me. My quilting friend who was with me loved her fabric so much she found space for it. Said she'd ship home her dirty laundry first. Don't have much chance to drive through Paducah from Texas. Their catalogs are just dangerous! So much gorgeous fabric, quilts and kits!
I ordered fabric from them over the 4th weekend. I could'nt believe how fast I got it or how pretty it is for the money.
I will shop with them again for sure. |
How wonderful. I tried and tried to order from Hancocks of Paducah and even though I have used it many times, they could not get my debit card to work so I haven't tried again.
I'd just like to add: If you ever get the chance be sure to visit their store in Paducah, KY. It's a great experience! Only wish we lived closer.
Once I ordered a hard to find fabric from them. When the order arrived, there was the catalog. [Insert great movie score soundtrack here] I placed it in a gift bag along with some of the treasured goods and delivered it to my mother-in-law. I think she loved the catalog more!
I have great success with them and love their catalogs!
This is not about fabric, but a cutomer service experience that was so shocking, I just have to share. Yesterday DH and I had to trade our modem for a more current one at Comcast. We walked in, were greeted politely, and when it was our turn, we were called ma'am and sir! Comcast, giving polite customer setvice! Kudos to the Comcast Office i Lebanon, Oregon for great customer service! Amazing, they can give good customer service, now I will never accept less!
I live close to Handcocks of Paducah and go we several times a year, have NEVER been disappointed, such good service and Mr. Handcock is so nice and takes time to chat with his customers. Best place for me to shop.

I have been to Hancock's of Paducah for the past 10 years or so, when our youngest daughter moved there. She worked for the newspaper and during Quilt Week (in April every year), the newspaper sent her to interview the Hancock's for an article in the paper about the Quilt show, etc. They told her that some women actually CRY when they walk in the door. I was telling somebody that they have 10 rows of BATIKS and they did not believe me. Here is a link to a post of mine with a picture of the store:

I, too, get excellent service from them. I always check what's on sale online and usually can't resist the bargain!
I don't understand. I have a lot of that now a days. But if you knew you had an expired gift card, why did you expect them to make it good? That kind of thing sinks smaller shops like a hole in a ship. Perhaps they are large enough to absorb the costs but why should they? I just don't understand.
Here in CA, gift cards CANNOT expire. They are like cash - good forever. I think that's a good policy - what "cost" are they absorbing? They were given money for that card in the past; I don't see that they're losing anything.

Love Hancock's of Paducah.

I did not know it was expired. My daughter lives in Paducah and we go there a couple of times a year and ALWAYS go to Hancocks of Paducah and I ALWAYS buy fabric. So, a year ago, she went into the store and purchased an E-Gift Card for me. Hancocks of Paducah then sent me an email/birthday card, telling me that I had "money to spend" online. But, there was no expiration date on the E-Gift Card. I was "saving" my gift card until I found something that I needed or just could not live without. Yes, I knew that I had had it a long time, but I thought that there was a new law out that companies could not put out expiration dates on gift cards. Guess that did not apply to E-Gift Cards. Anyway, when I tried to use it about a week ago on a beautiful peacock panel, it had been a week over a year since I received the email and I was unable to use it. But, a phone call was all it took to be able to use it. Great customer service!

Nothing like Customer service to keep your business running at the top. Kudos to them and word of mouth is better than advertising any day
I always get good service from them too!

Every time we visit relatives in TN, we stop at Hancock's. Visual overload, not to mention fabric overload, is the only way I can explain it. There are so many fabrics, so many choices, so little time (for me to just ponder all the choices), and sadly so little money. This year I bought Christmas fabrics. Mostly cardinal related fabrics. DH is an enabler so when he began picking out fabric, it was time to leave as we needed $$ to finish the trip home too. Love visiting there but want to go sometime without kids or DH so I can spend all day and maybe buy nothing but leave with inspiration for the fabric stash.

The service from Hancocks is outstanding. I buy from them because they have flat shipping rate of $10 per $50 spend. Most other vendors charge $23.95 for a Flat Rate which holds 6-8 yards.
A few months ago I ordered black quilt back fabric (less than 1/2 the price I pay here, including shipping - even Customs if I have pay that too!). When I went to use it some time later, there was a small, but noticeable, flaw approx 18" in. I emailed them a photograph of it and they sent me another piece immediately and told me to keep the other piece. Another time they sent me the wrong colour of a fabric I had ordered and again, they told me to keep it and refunded the cost of the original item. I never hesitate to recommend them to all my quilting friends. |
