Hand Basting and Sewing
 

There are times when taking a few basting stitches by hand saves hours of aggravation later.

Sometimes it does seem like a bother to find a needle, thread it, and actually sew with it - but there are times and places when mending that I can hand sew the spot, but I can't machine sew it.

I always have a needle threaded and ready to go if I need it.

I can't remember the last time I had to baste anything.

I find almost any kind of hand sewing to be very relaxing and therapeutic.....but i know that for others it is only a chore. Different strokes and all that.....

I don't thread baste anything. I use a washable glue stick. I do handsewing for buttons, hems, and such.

I don't even handsew buttons anymore....do them all on my machine....drop the feed dogs and set zigzag to match the holes.....5 or 6 stitches back and forth, all done!....I despise handsewing and do as little as possible!

My machines do buttons too, I need to get my books out and learn to do that, it just looks so much more professional than hand sewing.
But I do enjoy hand sewing, had to get "readers" to help me thread the needles (they keep winking when I try to thread them).

I like to hand baste. I like to hand embroider. Sometimes smaller, 'by hand' prjects seem more satisfying for me.
