Slicone glove from Avon

It's a bit pricey but I use Clinique's Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream. It totally absorbs into your skin and makes your hands soft as silk. I have tried many of the others already listed but none seems to help my skin as much as the Clinique does. I have used it for years and years! I also use their Deep Comfort Body Butter for the rest of my body and it also is fabulous!
|
I use an organic body butter for my hands.
Don't use it during the day but put it on at night. Great stuff! Works for elbows and knees as well. |
I use Jergens-keep a bottle at my machine because it helps me grip the pieces without leaving a greasy mess.

it's thick enough to put in jars. I save the round jelly jars during the year. I buy food that come in jars by the prettiness of the jar.   |
This is what I also use. Wonderful stuff
|
I love palmers coco butter put lots on at night and wear gloves to bed. good for cracked heals too. I also use it as a face moisterizer
|
Could someone post a picture of what they are calling "vitamin E cream" in the recipe?
Thanks! |
I have trouble with my hands drying also, I am in water all through the day. I have 2 wire fox terriers and I have found, that any lotion, is not a fix..it takes a hand cream...there is a big difference.
I also have found that Gold Bond, is better than most, even prescription creams. I use the gold bond, foot cream at night, for my hands, before laying down. It is the best I have found, just think, it is is made for cracked dry feet, what could be better for the hands? Walmart has it cheapest roo..it comes in a small blue tube, near the pharmacy dept. |

I love SewHelpMe Hand cream. It's non greasy so you can sew immediately after applying and it's fragrance free. Got it in a local quilt shop.
|
you can also put a fragrance oil in them. I used lavender
|
My favorite is a lotion called Renew made by a company called Melaleuca Inc. But you have to join to order from them.(Sort of like Amway)I am not a member anymore so I hope my stash doesn't run out soon! My husbands hands crack very bad in the winter from work (he is a welder)and it keeps his hands from cracking if he uses it everynight before bed. It is not greasy at all.
If he does get a crack the best thing we found to use is good old Desitin. He puts it on at night and covers it with the adhiesive medical tape and in the morning all of the soreness is gone! You might have to do it a few nights to get it completly healed though. |

I use baby food jars and pimento jars. Spray paint lids & hot glue small seasonal candle rings or a silk flower or bow on top.
Great gifts. |

Thanks! On a sad note, we don't have Dollar General stores here in Idaho. Will keep looking for the vitamin E cream. The cream I made last night from the cocoa scented petroleum jelly, and cocoa butter lotion with vitamin E added turned out okay for a night cream, abit greasy to use while in the sewing room. My hands were soft this morning. |
Bag Balm is my solution too
|
walmart is now carrying the vit e cream too. Yes you use 2 of each vaseline and vit e cream and the baby lotion unscented. You may add a fragrance oil if you like.
|
i have extremely dry skin. i put vaseline in a small egg poacher that i keep next to my bathroom sink - run very hot water in bottom, put on lid and when i get out of shower it's liquid. just dip your fingers in and it feels soooo good on my face, legs, arms, etc. you can also use extra virgin oilve oil. i also use a tsp of sugar mixed with olive oil as a face scrub. smooth skin!

All ingredients are Dollar Store General Brand. You may find the vitamin E cream and Vaseline in smaller jars but use 16oz each. The clean up is quick and not messy. Between quilting and being a secretary most of my life, I love this idea, and so many times, making your own concoction is better than all the lotions in the stores. Thanks!!!! Bottle of Baby Lotion (16 ounces) Jar of Vitamin E Cream (16 ounces) Jar of Vaseline (16 ounces) Mix all together with mixer until light and creamy and put in containers. |

My aunt introduced me to "Old Lady Cream"-she winters in Florida and this was one of their activity projects. Start with a bottle of baby lotion-she got all of her ingredients at Dollar General-add 1 jar of vitamin E cream and 2T of Vaseline then use a mixer and mix well-The mixture is not as greasy as usual hand cream. My mom adds a 2 or 3 tablespoons of lanolin for deep healing.

This is not really hand lotion, but it works great. I won't use anything else. I believe I read about it in one of Harriet Hargrave's books and the product is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula intensive moisture wrap. She recommended it for free motion work. I also use gloves for free motion but not for piecing and handling the fabric. And sometimes I just don't want to wear gloves.
I use the fragrance fee product since I am allergic to fragrance. It is $10.00 at Walmart and takes a very small amt. It's not greasy yet leaves the hands kind of "tacky". I use it all over and keep a bottle beside my machine and one in my bathroom. |
One thing you can do to help your whole body not to dry out so much is simply drink an additonal 16-24 oz. of water daily. When my hands get dried out I use s layer of Avon's Moisture therapy with a layer of Avon's silicone glove on top. However, water is you best friend when the body parts are dried out. K

I put the bag balm on a little heavy and then put my hands in a hot pack heated in the microwave.

I love the Camille Beckman creams. They have lanolin in them and the most wonderful smells. I especially love Pink Grapefruit, Gardenia and Orange Cream. They absorb right in and do not remain greasey. I used this when I worked in the flower shop and my hands would split open from working with the flowers. Just great.

I also use Neutrogena hand cream. My hands are in water all the time as I am a hair dresser and they get very dry because of all the chemicals I use. This is the only hand cream that really works. and does't stay on top of your hands so you can handle your quilts and not worry.

I have very dry hands, my sweet mother passed 2 years ago - her whole body was dry (she wouldn't drink water!), so we've tried a lot of things:
a little Vaseline on moist hands, rubs in well; if I'm doing gloves over night I use the disposable latex gloves used for painting, etc; Surgeon's Secret is wonderful; one of my all time favorites is from the crazy lady Joan Rivers - her Absolutely Magic hand cream - it's the best! Her Absolutely Magic foot cream is too but I can't find it anywhere any more! The foot cream has dimethicone in it, so if you find hand cream with that as an ingredient, should be very healing. |

I like a bottle of pink baby lotion (16 oz), an 8 oz jar of Vitamin E cream and a large bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion. Stir it all together and it is kind of a disappearing lotion, no greasiness and it smells great. Keep your Vitamin E cream jar and your bottles from the lotions to put it back in unless you have some other handier containers.
