when I hand quilt I use Quilter's dream "Request"
https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...YCEaAguB8P8HAQ It quilts easily, drapes lovely , and washes beautifully. W&N is too thick for me to HQ, but I use it for machine quilting just fine. I've never quilted with wool or silk.....was mostly afraid of results after washing...... |
the Quilters Dream wool is washable, but because it's made w/ a thermal process, it is not recommended to be dried. I do suppose you could dry it on a low heat....I'll be hanging my throw to dry.

NJ Quilter, I have used silk (90% silk/10%cotton) in a few of my quilts and it is lovely to work with. It does have a real nice drape and needles like going through warm butter.

Quilter's Dream Orient is very easy - http://www.quiltersdreambatting.com/dream-orient.htm

Thank you, I'm also looking for some hand quilting batting. I ordered the Quilters Dream Request.

I belonged to a hand quilting bee for many years and several of us used Hobbs 80 2o batting.

W&N, W&W, poly, 80/20....all work fine. But, the best for me is wool....it's like going through butter:)

I love Mountain Mist Quilt Lite. The needle goes through like a dream. I can make the best stitches on it, whereas if I use anything with cotton in it, it is so hard for the needle to go through with even stitches. I get it when JoAnn's have their half-price sale or senior citizens sale the first Wednesday of the month.

*** I use poly with no problems & for economic reasons. I usually give them away. *** |
