I got it for less than $5 at my very expensive LQS. Did you watch the video on Youtube?

I use a 10. Can't hand quilt as long as I used to, but still enjoy it. Mostly machine quilt now.

You can get them in differnt sizes at a office supply store. I use one on my thum, it sure help to pull the needle up. it take so getting use to. but it works for me. Those things called finger cots, that are in the first aide section of the store, are good needle pullers too.

I like 10s or 11s if the quilt is easy to quilt, but if the needles bend too easily I go to a larger, stiffer needle. My stitches are bigger as the needles get bigger, but I don't go through a ton of needles. For me, I use the smallest I can use and still keep a relatively straight needle.

I too use # 10, #11, or #12 needles, whichever is on sale. I prefer to use a 14 inch hoop stretched tight and use a tiny jewelers pliers to pull the needle through the quilt. This way I can load the needle to the very tip and still not have sore fingers from the effort of pulling the needle through the quilt.
