Hand Quilting
Hello everyone! This is a bit of a long shot but a while ago someone said they had quilted with a different stitch. I have been racking my brains to remember what it was. The title of the thread was the name of the stitch, I think it may have begun with an 'H'. Sorry it's not much to go on, but I hope someone can help.

You can quilt with most any of the fancy stitches ... just try the ones you have and see what you like.

Are you thinking of the Thimblelady technique?

For hand quilting I know of the running stitch or rocking stitch, big stitch and stab stitch. Some people do Shasiko (sp) for a quilting stitch too.

I once took apart an antique quilt that had been hand quilted and every other stitch was a back stitch. OY!!!

That being said .... consider all the fancy embroidery stitches that were used on Victorian Crazy Quilts. Some were purely decorative ... and some were for qulting purposes too. |
I wonder if it was the large stitching with like crochet thread..or some sort of heavy thread? It is almost as difficult as tiny stitches because it needs to be uniform. But can't think what it is called!
