Hand Quilting Thread?
I’ve been using Americana Hand Quilting glazed thread for some time. Recently it has changed, fraying, breaking.
What hand quilting thread do y’all use? Thank you |
I've used Gutermann and the Superior Threads brand (can't think of the name). They are both quite wiry, and I can't say I prefer one over the other, both are fine. I also tried hand quilting with Aurifil 28 wt. once, due to wanting a variety of colors. I didn't care for that much. It would eventually fray/break, and I missed the wiry texture I was used to.

I like to used Superior Threads King Tut, usually a variegated, or YLI hand quilting thread.
I prefer Gutterman as well
I have used coats & clark quilting thread for several quilts and it has held up fine.
I use Gutermann "Quilting" thread.
I prefer Guterman’s.
I usually use Aurifil but my LQS has Wonderfil in color & weight I wanted and it was as good.
I use Superior...or whatever quilting color of thread that I need in my thread stash!

Thimblebug, are you saying you use King Tut for hand quilting? I would love to do that, as I've got some leftover from FMQ, but my sewing machine didn't like it. It would be great to use it for hand quilting. I've always used Coats and have been happy with that.

Yes, and if I feel like I want the thread heavier, I just use it double. |
I used Guterman's for years but a year or so ago I switched to Dual Duty Plus hand quilting thread by Coats & Clark.
