I used to have a large quilt frame but found I didn't like having to stay in one room to quilt. I then bought a hoop and I wasn't crazy about that either. Now I have a frame made from PVC pipe and I love it. I can take it anywhere and it's easy to move around the quilt. It has a generous area to quilt in, so I'm not constantly moving it and most of the quilts I do are squares put together so it keeps the shape well. I generally quilt my large quilts in sections as I don't like being draped and since we live in FL it's hot to work with a large quilt. When I first assembled the frame I put a small strip of tape around the stems so they didn't come apart very easily and I've never had them come apart. Hope this helps.
