I am just finishing up an Amish Quilt and I am just curious about this--were Amish quilts ever hand tied or just hand quilted!
I would like to tie it, but I will like to do it true! Thanks for any help you can give me! Edie |
I would like to know the answer to this as well. I have only seen them hand quilted, but it doesn't mean they weren't tied. I am sure someone here will have the answers. Good question.

I've never seen a tied one

The Amish do make tied quilts. Check out this site.
http://www.amishworkshops.com/category/Quilts-3 Here is a site where they were raffling a hand-tied Amish quilt (third paragraph). This a neat place, by the way. http://www.opt-btw.org/Trike-About%202011.htm So even though,, they usually quilt, some are tied. So you can still be authentic if you tie your quilt. |
They mostly quilt but tie if you want.

Thank you all for your help. It help me to decide that I would like to tie the quilt. It'll be nice to sit and enjoy the rest of the summer on the patio tying it. Thanks again. Edie
