I used to get carsick, but guess I have gotten past that. I love redwork, bluework, etc. I always have a project in a bag to take along while riding. I usually take my Featherweight along on trips, but on occasion it has decided to act up, so I also use the redwork as a hand project at a motel, etc.

I english paper piece in the car all the time. I also get carsick on long rides, so I take dramamine, which keeps me from getting carsick and allows me to EPP. We are heading out on vacation next week... some of those midwest states are long and boring... and some handwork keeps me from dying of boredom...

We are heading out next week on a month long trip. I have binding to stitch down, a couple yoyo projects and my never ending EPP project. Very seldom do I leave the house without some type of hand stitching.

I work on looking for Quilt shop billboards in hopes of getting my husband to stop at some of them. However he always seems to forget when we get to the exit ("oops, too late") and promises to stop at the next one.

I do a lot of seam ripping. Easier to take a seam out than to put a stitch in that's too big or small and get my finger. I usually find a thrift store item like a dress that has a lot of lace and ribbons and bows and buttons (little girl dresses or ugly gaudy formals).

We were at Glacier National Park about 20 years ago, traversing the Highway to the Sun at 9:00 at night. It was quite scary; everyone in front of us had their brake lights shining brightly. (We were driving a manual shift, so no need for brakes. Just use first gear.) I had some knitting along so I started a small project. I think it was a pot holder or a square for an afghan.

Elizabeth Zimmerman told us we can knit in the dark. She used to knit and read at the same time. So instead of grasping frantically the door handle, I knit. I thought that if I make a mistake, I'll just rip it out when we get there. We got there in one piece, as did everyone else I guess, and my knitting had not one mistake.

You don't have to look at what you are knitting.

My thoughts exactly...I wish I could sew or read in the truck...same when I'm on a train or plane.

I love to epp on the road even for 30 minutes, but if I had your view out the window, I'd have my eyes glued outside the whole time!!

Redwork embroidery. Takes a bit of preparation before the trip, but makes the trip go fast! You don't even have to change thread colors.....just use the red!

The good thing is that we'll be in the pickup which sits high so I don't think carsickness will be an issue. As for missing any sights.....DH has eagle eyes and he is great at alerting me to whatever is going on outside. We'll just have to work on him telling me BEFORE we pass whatever it is. "Honey did you see the deer back there?" Nope.
