Micron pigma pens.

I've always used the Pigma pens, .5 as well. I bought a pack of 5 colors. I sometimes write down the name of the quilt (pattern name) when I made it and sign it. Other times, I just write a note directly to the person who is getting it. Depends on who the quilt is for. I like to set it with heat, just in case, but I know they last because one grand-niece has shown me her quilt and the fact that the label still shows and how much she loves it.

Bonnie Hunter uses Pentel Gel Roller for Fabric pens. She gets them on Amazon. I just ordered one yesterday from Ebay. She swears by them and said she doesn't have to set with heat. I just read about this yesterday.

I use a micron pigma pen. The .5 size. And I heat set it too. :)

I use spray adhesive to attach fabric to cardboard, then hand it to my daughter with the lovely handwriting. She writes in pencil the who/from/date I take it off the cardboard attach a stabilizer then set the stitches to fine and just follow the lines I then needle turn and attach to quilt. The pencil comes off in the first wash[ATTACH=CONFIG]545290[/ATTACH]

Another really good label idea. I have quite a few that need a label but I just haven't found a process that works for me. I'm like you, I have to get help from someone with nice handwriting.

I have used Pigma pens for many, many years, and would not use anything else. I did try a Sharpie pen ONCE, and it was not acceptable as it spread out onto the label. The method I use is to iron a piece of freezer paper onto the back of the fabric you wish to use for the label, this stabilizes the fabric, write your message, heat set and the freezer paper acts like an applique when sewn onto the back of a quilt. I've had labels on some of my quilts that are 10-15 + years old and still legible.

What a wonderful hint. I have been using "Contac paper" to adhere to the back of the label fabric before I write on it.
