Handi Grip
 

I have never been able to hold my rulers straight when cutting fabric. I do have small hands. I tried The Gypsy Gripper, the large suction handle and it helped but still moved near the end of the cuts. I ordered these Handi Grip and boy do they work. All they are are strips of emery board type material with an adhesive side. You can cut to the size you want and place on rulers or templates. They are clear so even when you put them on the back of the ruler you can still see the markings. Supposedly you can remove and reuse but I haven't done that yet. All I can say is for me it works great!

Glad to hear you have found a solution for yourself. I use the clear gripper dots on the corners of my rulers and I think they work great. I've also used spring clamps from the tool section of Home Depot. It limits where I can cut on my mat (right edge only) but the ruler truly does NOT move with those.

If it works for you, that is what counts !!

I use the True Grip spots -- but do try to remember to "walk" my hand up the ruler when reaching to the far end. That helps a lot!

I have a lot of trouble at times holding my rulers. For longer cuts I definitely use my alto's QuiiltCut2. I also use the guidelines ruler for making things like the BOM.

They are kinda pricey, but I got the Quilters Slidelock, both long and short size. They really work for me:thumbup:

I use the True Grip Strips and really like them. I put a strip along the edge of each side of my rulers, really helps with the long 24" rulers.

Sandpaper dots really help, but on the long rulers you really must walk up the ruler with your fingers as you cut so it doesn't scoot.....

I'm using the free, already have it at home, ruler dots that a member of this board told us about some time ago. Just dots of elmers (or any other) glue on the wrong side of the ruler. While the glue is wet sprinkle the dots with salt. Let dry overnight. It works fine for me and it's free.

I just use the non skid shelving. Works for me.

I won't cut with a rotary cutter unless I have the SlideLock ruler holder, used to be named Rule Steady. I put it on top of my ruler and that ruler isn't going anywhere. I use it for safety. I had a bad cut when my ruler slipped when cutting.

I use the rulers that have the "lip" edge that fits over the edge of the cutting mat. So far so good!
