Handiquilter 16 help

The hopping foot came loose on my handiquilter and broke the needle. I think it may be out of timing now as it shudders (shakes) from time to time. Does anyone know how to adjust the timing?
Thanks

you could call the customer service/tech team at HandiQuilter- they are wonderful---but there is a good chance they are going to tell you it needs to go in for service. I've had mine for 9 years and can not for the life of me even imagine how your foot 'fell off'???? I have *dealt* with the customer service & tech team a few times over the years and they have been very friendly & helpful.

Customer service has always helped me. I have only used local when I had to have it first installed for help with the electrical connections.

I had to have mine re-timed after a needle fell out and messed it up. There are special tools needed for re timing. ALSO I found out they should be taken in periodically just like a sewing machine for a good cleaning.

Timing is not something the average joe can do, even if you can clean and lube. It takes a special tool to set the needle height, this has to be precise for the needle to catch the bobbin thread correctly. You may want to have it cleaned and adjusted for preventive maintenance, and have them check the gears and belts. I was a HandiQuilter dealer for 4 years and I can't emphasize the importance of scheduled maintenance.
