Handling Bunny Ears

Is it essential to cut off the bunny ears from blocks? Will it change how anything matches up, etc? In most of the quilts that I make, this situation does not come up.

In some patterns it helps to reduce the bulk in the seams. After pressing my blocks, I do snip them off.

I think calling them Bunny Ears is cuter than dog ears!

It’s a personal choice. Some people always snip them off, some never do. It will not effect matching seams ( it will reduce bulk sometimes in joins) try clipping few & see if you like the difference and then do what you prefer

I like to snip off the ears.

Sometimes the ears help to match up seams, but not always. I usually leave them on unless they're in the way.

The term bunny ears threw me off for a second or two...always heard them called dog ears. Remove them to reduce bulk in you seams.

While it won't affect anything, it does reduce the bulk and for me, it makes joining them with another block easier. Try it both ways and decide which you like best. Happy bunny ears to you! :-)

Boston, I don't think it's essential but I like to cut mine for the reason the others gave- bulk.
