I use Thread Heaven. It helps a bit... but I still deal with the knots sometimes.

My suggestion would also be wax the thread-love your quilt.

I agree, waxed thread. Love the Waratah fabric in your lovely quilt.

Put your thread in a medicine bottle the same size, cut a piece of fabric softener sheet fold it 2 times, thread your needle and pull it through the sheet and through a hole in the top of the bottle. Will keep your thread from knotting very much.

I also found it to help to make sure the knot is tied on the end closest to where it came off the spool. Proper lighting is a must also.
I decided to use the invisible thread to secure my squares in a Cathedral window I am making. HUGE mistake. It really knots and you may be half way around the squares before you see it and have to back track each stitch. I have no idea what made me use it but now I feel I have to continue with it. Never again. |
Gorgeous quilt.. Always tie your know on the end that comes of the spool first. You'll find you have less knotting!!

I use shorter lengths of thread and untwist ever dozen stitches or so. Preventing knots rather than dealing with them, cutting or breaking thread is such a nuisance. - I keep several threaded quilting needles ready too, less frustrating when using shorter lengths.

The brand of thread is of importance. Coats and Clark seems to bunch up, and shred. Use a good brand quilting thread and then wax it.

I have heard that if you run a dryer sheet along the length of thread that it won't tangle as bad.
