What do I put into the hanging sleeve to hang a small quilt? I'll be giving the quilt as a gift and would like to include whatever is commonly used to hang quilts. This is my first wallhanging, so I have no idea what to use. Would also appreciate your thoughts on hanging vs. having the quilt framed (with glass).

It would depend on the size of the wallhanging. If it is atleast 8x10, you could use the small cafe rods they use for curtains with the small 3M sticky cup hooks, or decorative rod supports if it is visible. Anything smaller than that, I would be tempted to frame and use glass like a picture. My wallhanging is 20 x 20 and I used a sm white cafe rod, it works great.

I give a small cafe rod with my wall hangings, they are $2.97 at WM. Last year I did 6 Advent calendars and 6 cafe rods. I figured if I got it that far the parents could figure out how to get them onto the wall.

I use a dowel that can be purchased at a craft store or a hardware store then buy the knobs to put on the end.

I have used fabric wrapped gallery canvas for several pieces. It's easy to do, not very expensive, looks great and hangs easily.

ghostsrider, thanks for the headsup. it never occurred to me not to have the quilt touching the glass.
