Lynnie,
One of my favorite types of patterns for using batiks are from the books by Sharyn Craig.

Boston1954.......... I share your idea... send to my address! Lol
But to be serious... how about square within squares? OR log cabin? Hmmm, too many possibilities. I'm sure you'd find an idea soon.

Hi Lynnie,
I was checking out the board and couple days ago and ran across the post, Moda Pattern of the week in the Links section. It has some really great patterns that might work for you there. And they are free to download! There were so many I saved because they were wonderful!

Lucky break for you. I love Batiks and you will be happy with whatever you make from them. Be sure and share your projects.

Oh my what a nice surprise!! I would try to make something I haven't tried befor, one block at a time! Before you know it you will have a table runner or a quilt!! Just have fun!!

One of my favorites is cutting rectangles from the fabric, then adding a narrower strip to the two long sides. Next alternate these blocks vertical and horizontal in rows. With those colors, I would probably use the browns and greens for the rectangles and the oranges for the side strips.
If you cut the rectangles 4.5" x 8.5" and the side strips 2.5" x 8.5", your finished block would be 8.5 x 8.5". I am certain this pattern has a name but I don't know what it is. I saw one once and just duplicated it without a pattern. It's fast and easy, but looks great!
