Happy Mother's Day to Me!!

Family sent a gift card from MSQC instead of flowers this year for Mother's Day. Do you think they finally get it. Flower fabric is so much more fun than flowers I throw out in a week. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the flowers, but I REALLY appreciate the gift card. Now to go shopping. grammasharon

Fun for you! Happy shopping!

What a thoughtful gift! My family considers gift cards too impersonal, but I hint that I can get what I want, and don't need any more jewelry, household things, clothes, etc. Happy Mom's Day to everyone!

Onebyone 05-07-2016 06:58 AM

That is a great gift!! It took many gift occasions for me to convince the family I did not care for flowers or jewelry.

How wonderful I agree I like gift cards and you can take you time shopping and buy what your want.

How kind of your family. I recently got a gift card to Ace hardware. It will be put to good use.

How thoughtful.....have fun shopping

Some of my family thinks gift cards are not suitable gifts. But they have never given one back! For teens and young adults the only gifts I give them are pre paid Visa cards. They can pay a bill, buy gas, or eat out. What's not to love about a gift card?

meyert 05-07-2016 02:52 PM

good for you!! I am a little jealous :)

Love those gift cards - Who says they aren't a thoughtful gift? Musta been a man who over-thinks everything.

What an awesome gift from a family who can "read between the lines". LOL

Gift cards are nice but I prefer the flowers. My son sent me a beautiful vase of flowers.

I am so lucky my wonderful son is Bernina Tech and always gives me sewing stuff the latest and greatest tools ,I think I encouraged him into the right job many years ago....it has paid off.

My DH said we could stop at MSQC on our way back from Yellowstone, so your son and DIL sent us cash to get lodging in Hamilton while we are there. I will have mid-afternoon one day and until noon the next to shop. Woo Hoo, can't wait. My DH is NOT a shopper, so was surprised at his supreme sacrifice LOL

WooooHooooo!

This would be an awesome gift for mother's day for me. My children realize that I am a saver and everything they give me will be theirs to dispose of when I am gone, even the vases that flowers come in. So they have opted to give me the ability to pick out my own gifts. Love it! They will be the benefactors of the table runners and quilts that I make. Great husband to sacrifice for your enjoyment EmiliasNana

That's the perfect Mother's Day gift, or at least it would be for me too. Glad the family "gets it" and flower fabric does last lots longer than real flowers any day. Have fun shopping.

What a fantastic Mother's Day gift, enjoy your shopping.

reginalovesfabric 05-09-2016 06:04 AM

good for you, I got a trip to a local quilt shop 30 mile away that was having a 3rd birthday party. Boy did I have a GOOD time. We spent lots of money and I got LOTS of fabric.

Roberta 05-09-2016 06:05 AM

My kind of gift that keeps on giving.

I love your idea of flowered fabric instead of cut flowers! You can sent the giver a photo of your selections, and it will be like you are giving them flowers, too!
My DH often gives me a blooming plant, which he knows I prefer to cut flowers -- blooms last longer even if the plant doesn't survive for another season.
