Has anyone added a stitch regulator to a Voyager 17/Hinty setup?

I have the opportunity of buying a used stitch regulator from someone who has upgraded her Voyager to a robotics system. This stitch regulator does not include the encoders, which hopefully I can get from Nolting. I called Nolting, but they said to call back once I get the stitch regulator so they can figure out exactly what I need.

I'm pretty sure my Hinty frame has the upgraded carriage needed for the stitch regulator. I am just nervous because I don't know how the encoders work or how complicated it will be to get the additional parts I will need.

Maybe you can check with one of the Yahoo groups?

Have fun, lucky girl! :)

I don't understand how that stitch regulator worked for her without any encoders. I have them on my Gammill, and they are tiny wheels attached to the sides of the machine, two of them, one on a side and one on an end, if I remember correctly. The wheels run against another part, and the information of how fast you are sewing is transmitted to the machine because the encoder has a small electrical cord which plugs into the machine.

The seller upgraded her system with robotics, but I think she kept the encoders as they worked with her new system.

I have one and it works great. I love the way it assures the stitches are even.
