I see this fabric grouping that I just had to have. That was a few months ago, back in July, my how time flys. Ok last week I choose a block, start cutting and to my amazement, (I really mean stupidity) I dont have enough fabric. No problem I will go get some more. Wrong again. They only made this fabric for Joanne's I cant find it anywhere, I am new on this site and while browsing, (I am so addicted) I see where people make request to buy certain fabrics they no longer have...............OK do you see where I am going with this? I will shut up and show you a picture. You know whats even sadder? I was only short a 6.5 X 6.5 block! No I didn't cry, ok maybe a sniffle or 2

sorry I don't have your missing fabric but why not do your quilt label in that block? instead of putting in on the back, it will be on the front for all the world to see and you don't have to worry about finding your missing fabric....sort of like, killing 2 birds with one stone!!

Take your favorite picture of a beach scene (perhaps one with you or the person you're making this for in it), print it off on Printed Treasures or some equivalent and use that for your last block.
This happened once to a lady on retreat that was making a baby blanket. The blocks didn't come out right to make it the size she wanted, she needed two more blocks. So she did one with the baby's name, dob, wieght, length, etc. and another with the parents/siblings' picture. It turned out beautifully. |
If you get really desperate, you could scan a block of that fabric and print it on those fabric sheets you get at the quilt shop for your inkjet printer. The colors might vary a little bit but not too noticeable, I would think.

That's awesome!

I love the idea of the label being on the front. And I also love the idea of putting a photograph of you and the person you are giving it too. Great ideas guys!!!!
|
that is an awesome idea!
|
You could buy the photocopy fabric sheets and copy that fabric on to it.
|
if you have the name of the fabric you can search for it on quiltshops.com..this site allows you to view and purchase fabrics for 100's of quilting shops at one time...i ran out of fabric once and was able to order from one of the stores ..it really saved me

post the picture on classifies - subject ISO fabric. Maybe someone here has some.
|
Maybe you could make an applique that looks like one of the boats to use instead of the fabric--I think that could look pretty cool!
|
That is neat your idea of scanning fabric....will have to try that sometime.in case something like that happens to me!!!Smart !!!
