Has anyone heard of this block? I want to make it.

She calls it "Old Italian" and that is my heritage so I'm intrigued about this block. With all the Italian women on both sides of my family nobody quilted except me!. I'm going to message her to find out but I thought I'd share here for any info but also a fun block to make.

I saw Barbara Black give a lecture on saving time by quilting smarter, and she referenced a tutorial on her blog to what she called the X-block, but is also known as Old Italian: https://bbquiltmaker.blogspot.com/20...arks-spot.html. Her tutorial follows a method used by Sharyn Craig shown in her book Layer It Up. Here are the blocks I made using a charm pack.
The Old Italian block is one of Barbara’s favorites and if you search her website for “Italian” you can find other examples, including an antique top made from the block that includes 1876 Centennial fabric!

What a fun block! And since it's your heritage it makes it even more fun!

I saw a tutorial for making the Alamo block and want to make a quilt with it since I'm here in Texas. So much fun!

Oh cutting those little strips with the stripes might be fun! Great quilt!

Thanks, everyone! Quite a few resources. I did ask the Youtuber and she didn't have any info on the name but her method looks pretty easy.

I'm going to make it. I can pass it on to my Italian, Polish, French and German grandchildren :D

I haven't heard of it, but I like it! I might do one in honor of my late MIL, who was an old Italian, lol. Ma came over from Italy on a boat when she was 4. She was a creative, hard worker her entire life.

Thanks everyone for all the links. I think I have just added another pattern to my bucket list.
