I was drooling over it just yesterday and tried to search for new comments by users... was not able to find new reviews. |
I was also drooling over it. Had a demo today. The store I was in sold 38 destinies and 19 brother dreams. Maybe for Christmas.
|
I got my Destiny a week ago. Such a quiet machine. I traded my Brother Quattro for this one. Not thrilled with Disney things so there was no problem getting the Baby Lock instead of Brother (I have owned Brother machines for over 20 years with absolutely no problems). I have my owners classes next week, and look forward to all the bells and whistles training.
|
I would be interested in knowing the going price on the Destiny. I saw it and was seriously impressed and my dealer always has better than average prices, but she wasn't sure $ wise as she hadn't gotten one in her store yet, but had several on the waiting list.

Ah - Babylock sewing machines are not a big seller here. I've never actually seen one, although there are a couple of online retailers that sell the overlockers and one or two basic machines.
|
I saw one demonstrated at a LQS. I asked the demonstrator [actually works for Babylock] how much it was, and after much hemming and hawing, and me not giving up, he told me the price is "around" $17,000.
Way to rich for my blood! I bought a Babylock Unity this summer and am still feeling guilty for spending so much for a sewing machine. |
Mindsets are strange things. I look at my Ellisimo as an investment and have been thrilled with the machine and what it can do. With these high end machines comes trade ins, free classes, bonus buys on software and help with creating wonderful masterpieces . Yes the Destiny is on the high end but if it's within reach what an awesome machine to have. The videos don't compare to the actual use of it. It's an technical wonder. Those who created this are pure geniuses to have given us such magnificent technology in this sewing and crafting industry. I marvel at such a grand intelligence and am more than grateful for all it offers us. We are truly blessed indeed.

I had been looking for an embroidery machine only online though, so I decided to go look in person, I was given a tour and demo of all the embroidery machines in the store, but when we got to the Destiny not only did it light up so did I. needless to say my husband was as intrigued as I was so he said there is no since in buying anything else lets just get the Destiny, I melted like butter. was not intending on buying just yet but he said why wait. 2 weeks and she will be set up ready to go...
|
Oh LyzeeBee what a wonderful opportunity for you. I spent a whole day with the Destiny and what a wondrous and beautiful thing it is!
|
My husband is like that also - he buys what he likes and thinks I should do the same. OK spill Lyzee Bee - just give us a ball park $ I want to know if my dealer is giving a good deal.

Good Luck! Hope you find the deal you are after.
I'm still looking and deciding, and my husband is not entirely opposed to the idea. He just wants me to be sure this is something that I'll use and earn some money with. I do a little of that now. Making enough to cover the monthly payment would be wonderfully fulfilling. My dealer has a interest free contract for the Destiny. Baby Lock is offering all their classes for free for 4 years. Also their are a few other incentives the dealer is offering. Takes the price down several thousand. |
Here in H-town its a whopping $15, 25 % off which would be $11.2K with all you said Rhonda Lee interest free etc etc...but hubby has decided to make it rain and pay cash so its another $1K off so ball park when its all said and done prob back at the 11k figure taxes and all....

That's about where it would be for me also. I think you are really getting a great deal. And a great machine. Talk to us when you start using it. I know you'll just fall in love!!

I traded in my quattro for the dream machine. It came with the luggage and a year of Anita Gooddesign quilt level club and 25% off purchases for one year. My husband bought it for my birthday. There was also free financing if you needed it. The store I got mine from sold 52 machines.
i love it. It does so much is so quiet. I scanned a picture and it stitched it out.http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=496088&stc=1 I have a lot to still learn about it. The shop has a "Dream Machine" club which is a new project each month to learn something new about the machine. It is free for anyone who bought from them, it includes all supplies and teacher's fee. It stitches everything beautifully. |
True confessions I did go and take a look at The Dream Machine and I melted once again, I was truly going to get that one especially since I have grandkids (2 on the way) with the Disney characters and all...but it was a bit more than I was willing to pay and Babylock offered a sweet deal I could not refuse...either way they both are great I'm counting the days until she's in my possession and Rhonda Lee I will definitely do that....

wow...that's a lot of machines...

You are a lucky one!!! |
I believe it is $11,999 here.
|
AngelinaMaria, what a pretty name! Are you thinking about your Destiny too? My husband says it's really up to me and my answer is yes!!! I'll be getting it sometime after Christmas. Wish it could be before...maybe it'll be for Christmas! I can really dream about this one!
|
Rhonda Lee--my dream (at least for now) came true in July when I bought the Crescendo. I am making sure not to take more than a few quick glance at the new Babylocks so I wont have to know what I am missing!!! This was my 20 year wedding anniversary gift and I'm sure it will last for a long time. It is such a great machine. Good luck with your dream.

I went to the revealing of this machine back in Sept. this year and it is a wonderful machine. I own the Babylock Spirit Embroidery only machine so for me I didn't want the combo one. Like any machine one needs the time to learn the bells and whistles of what it offers and the most interesting part is the scanning feature. At my lqs the asking price was $8,999.99 including 100 floriani threads, software designs and of course 0% financing for 4 yrs. Its not a bad deal considering that it also comes with the Gold Warranty which provides 4 yrs. of maintenance for free. I will be using the Destiny at a soon Floriani party at my lqs. Can't wait to use it!

Quiltnut4ever, the price you quoted is the lowest one I've seen. It must make a difference what area we live in. I was able to use the Destiny at a retreat and was so impressed with how it functions. How fun and fortunate for you to be able to use it. It's a marvel.

Isn't this new technology mind blowing? Can you imagine our grandmothers seeing something like this? My grandmother taught me how to sew on a treadle. I can remember standing on the chair that she was sitting on and looking over her shoulder mesmerized by what that needle going up and down was doing. My it's interesting the things we've been able to see and learn in our time. We are such a fortunate society. |
Well she's here got it yesterday trying to make room for this monster machine....

How exciting. Is it's footprint bigger than Crescendo? I upgraded from an Espire to a Crescendo in the summer and remember how little the Espire looked side by side. Sewing table/cabinet manufacturers are going to have to start making their products with bigger cut outs. My machine just barely fits in my new Arrow Florie cabinet.

Forgive me for not knowing exactly what your talking about....this is my very first babylock machine...I'll have to get hip to the lingo
