If so, is it as easy as it says?

Cute bag, but what is the sleeve for?

JCL in FL 02-21-2010 01:01 PM

I think the sleeve is for the quilt that is before it on the pattern page.

Looks like you put the quilt (from the pattern before) in the sleeve. What kind of bag is this?? Sounds unusual to me...but cute

This is my first time to see this pattern and I looked over the instructions closely. I think it looks confusing. Maybe it is one of those patterns that is easier to understand if you are making it as you are reading the instructions.

I am with Grammynan, I do not see a point for the sleeve.

I've not made it before but if you want to make it for me I'll surely use it. Its a cute pattern.

It's a cute bag, but the instructions confuse me.

very cute bage, but no never made any bags.

The bag doesn't look too hard. The sleeve is on the bottom of the bag. These are a travel set and the sleeve is so you can roll up the quilt and slide it into the sleeve. I wouldn't want to do that, but it might be handy to stow a small travel folding umbrella. I think I would just make it without the sleeve.

I agree - I'd ditch the sleeve... I don't see me carrying around a quilt unless you are planning on giving it to someone as a baby present - then they can carry the baby's play on quilt when they go out ya know?

But if it were being made for a grown up I'd have to ditch the sleeve - unless they live where it rains all the time - love the idea of the umbrella :)

I looked at the pattern and let out a scream (at almost midnight). It's Moda's "Verna" fabric line. Nobody ever names anything Verna. Several quilting friends advised me it's coming out but I haven't seen it yet. Thank you Moda!!!!

Lucky you, Verna!!! I can't see Moda naming anything "Janice".

It would make a nice picnic bag too...quilt to sit on, lunch in the bag... :)

jbsstrawberry 02-23-2010 06:44 AM

Yep, the sleeve is to stow the quilt at the bottom of the bag. Awesome idea, would be great for picnics, or an outing at the park with the kids. Thanks for the link!!

I think it is REALLY cute! It would be good to carry your quilt to a class or bee to work on the hand quilting or sew on binding while you are there or wherever! Thanks for posting...I saved the pattern!
